“First trip to Nashville - good choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

We were a little late making reservations for our trip to Nashville and most downtown hotels were booked...read TA reviews and decided to give this hotel a shot. Location was great...easy access to every place we visited. This Hampton was very clean, had very comfy beds, updated decor, free breakfast (which is a great perk so you can get on with your day plus the employees were WONDERFUL in the breakfast area), free wifi, free parking. Everyone was helpful with directions, recommendations, etc.

I selected the Hampton to attend a conference at the nearby Orpy Convention centre as it seemed the right mix between quality and cost. I was only staying 2 nights, so quality of sleep was most important to me. I've stayed at several Hampton Inns before and generally pleased with them.

The Room
The room was the standard midrange hotel layout. I had asked for a king, but only 2 queens were available. the beds were soft and comfortable. Not the best I have stayed in but above average.

There was a small fridge and microwave, along with LCD tv. The work desk was very spacious and had a proper desk chair. I was able to get quite a bit of work done at the desk.

Generally a quiet room, although could hear the water draining through the pipes when someone above me took a shower.

Location/Hotel
The location was less than a mile from the Gaylord Opry Convention Centre, and then had an hourly shuttle there which was a nice surprise since I originally thought I would have to walk. There a several restaurants within walking distance, but not a lot of selection for food nearby.

They have the standard breakfast stuffs like most included breakfast places. Nice eating area, and it was well maintained by the staff.

Didn't use the fitness room, but used the business centre to print out my boarding pass. I had to make arrangements with the front desk for a taxi to the airport because my flight left too early for their regular shuttle which left at 7am.

The free wifi connected ok, but the speed was quite slow, not much better than dial up speeds.

Staff were friendly and helpful. They have an airport shuttle but it only starts at 7am, which is a bit strange since maybe people usually leave first thing in the morning. They did help me schedule a taxi, but I would have preferred to use the shuttle to save money.

Overall I found the hotel and stay to be good, but certainly not memorable, and a bit on the costly side. Still give the choice between the high priced Orpyland hotel and budget poor quality hotels, it was worth it.

Room Tip: Suggest getting room on top floor so you won't hear the water in the draining from bathrooms abo...

This Hampton was nicely decored, staff at desk was helpful and friendly. If going to Gran Ole Opry they provide a shuttle to and from which is convenient.

The real Miss Sunshine for the breakfast area is really delightful and gives you great service.

The room was clean and spacious.

Room Tip: our roomfaced the parking area but did not seemto be noisy.

Not your typical Hampton Inn decor. Very contemporary. Very clean and new feeling. Everyone we dealt with at the front desk was pleasant. Sharika in the breakfast area was awesome ! We will definitely stay here again when visiting relatives who live in the area.

Clean, modern, and easy to find...breakfast was good, and the location worked well for our travel in the morning to The Hermitage (President Andrew Jackson's home). My only issue would be that the price was a bit higher than other Hampton Inn's we've stayed at, but the prices in Nashville this time of year seemed to be higher in general.

We enjoyed our stay at this HI, location is somewhat inconvenient for visiting the Honky Tonk bars on Lower Broadway as it is a $35 cab ride Downtown in each direction. There is a private shuttle available for $10pp that picks up on the hour from various hotels in the area and collects you on Broadway into the early hours.

The Hotel itself is clean, pleasant and comfortable, Breakfast had a good variety and was served by the all singing all loving 'Sunshine' who might give you a tune if you're lucky (this lady can SING!).

All in all I have no problem recommending the Hampton @ Opryland for a Nashville visit, just understand that you are further out from Downtown if that's where you intend heading and a Car is a necessity to visit the spots during the day. The Grand Ole Opry is very close but just outside walking distance. Next time we would probably stay Downtown but don't let that take anything away from this very well maintained property.

Pros: Extremely convenient location to Opry Mills mall and The Hermitage...about 15 minutes from Centennial Park; clean rooms; quiet hotel; good breakfast

Con: Free Wi-Fi is slow (not high-speed Internet)
