“The Hermitage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

The inside guided tour of the Hermitage was interesting. Most of the self guided tour takes place on the grounds of this historic site. Unfortunately the day we took the tour it was very windy and a bit cool (Storm Sandy backlash) making the outside tour a little uncomfortable. Worth seeing.

“Very Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

The house and grounds are just beautiful. Walking around the grounds is very serene. The house has the original furniture and some of the original wall coverings. The furniture was unbelievable, just so beautiful. The house was grand for its time. The gardens are very nice and the tomb impressive. It's worth the trip to see the whole plantation.

“Educational and historical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

The docents are excellent. They seem to truly love their jobs. They are dressed in period costumes, which made it that much more fun. The tour lasts about an hour and then you can wander around the grounds at your leisure.

The house Andrew and Rachel lived in was quite impressive for the time. The wallpaper was very pretty. The furnishings were impressive.

The grounds are very beautiful. The audio guide was very informative. The displays in the museum are well done and informative.

We were a group of 9 and everyone enjoyed it.

Plan to spend 2 to 3 hours.

This house was beautiful and we loved all the original wallpapers. An interesting tour, including the slave quarters too.

“If you like history don't miss this”

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I was amazed at how much in the home is original especially the 175 year old wallpaper. Beautiful home.
