On our first trip to Nashville, we planned to sample the music night life, restaurants and tourist sites of the downtown community known as The District. Not only is the Courtyard ideally located for easy access to this area, it also is convenient to restaurants in The Gulch and in West End.
This property is older but has been fully restored. While the rooms are smaller than what most are probably used to, they are well appointed, comfortable and clean. Parking is a covered garage located on the bottom four floors of Tower 2. Be sure to check in prior to entering the garage because you’ll need a room key for getting through the gate and then for entering the building from the garage. Having covered, gated parking was a plus.
All of the staff was professional and friendly. The common areas were sufficiently large to mingle with friends and enjoy a drink. A bar, a Starbucks and a cafe off the lobby were open from 7:00a to 11:00p. Food service was always conducted with a smile. If you’re in a hurry or just want a late-evening snack, it was a good spot to grab something to eat.
The District and The Gulch were a bit far to walk, but a free shuttle offered by Courtyard was available. You can arrange a pickup at the front desk for transfer to your location of choice between the hotel and downtown or even from one of those sites back to the hotel. Consider this a ride share such that you’ll need to work around others’ requests for the service and they for yours. The longest we had to wait was 10 min. Because the shuttle service ends at 10:45p, you’ll hail a cab back to the hotel after a late night on the town. The 1-mile ride costs $10 for two people. If you choose to walk, there was more than a dozen good restaurants close by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel was clean and active with a diverse mix of people visiting all of the restaurants. Vanderbilt University was a couple of blocks away bringing with it a more progressive blend of cuisines than the normal city fare.
Having experienced Nashville and thoroughly enjoyed it, we are planning our next trip around a concert at the Ryman Auditorium while staying at the Courtyard and having the shuttle deliver us to the venue. By the way, Ted Nugent was Ryman’s headliner while we were there.
