We won 2 nights at Courtyard Nashville Vanderbilt/West End at an auction and paid $150. We found this to be a really good deal considering what we received.

The check-in process was easy and the front desk folks were personable and friendly. Parking was free and in a locked garage with room key access directly next to the hotel. They also offer valet services for those who want to take advantage of it.

Free hot breakfast was an option and while we did not eat there during our stay the food looked really good and the room where people ate at was a buzz with people.

They have 2 patron computers in the lobby as well as free hot chocolate, cookies and coffee. There are also ample sitting areas and a small side bar.

The only thing that we did not care for was the size of the room. It was rather small. We did have a nice comfy king bed, desk and a small sofa but it seemed a bit cramped. Other than the size, the room was clean as well as the bathroom.

We also loved that the hotel was within walking distance of our favorite N.Y. Style deli "Noshville." They have amazing breakfast and it was great to be able to just walk on over and grab a tasty bite. For those looking for fast food, there is a Mrs.Winners chicken place directly across the street from the hotel and a Jack In The Box about a block down.

The hotel is about 10 minutes from LP Field, 15 minutes from Opryland and 5 minutes from the heart of downtown Nashville.

“Courtyard Great Stay”

Courtyard by Marriott Nashville Vanderbilt/West End

We stayed at the Courtyard for 7 nights in September. The stay was excellent as far as the Hotel was concerned. Reception and Car Valet service were excellent. The only complaint I had regarding the hotel was that they ran out of eggs at breakfast one day, the hotel was full of Ladies soccer teams at the time. The other complaint I had was that the Fire-alarm went off at 2.00am and we all had to leave the hotel. We were on the 12th floor and it was a long walk down and up again. The hotel was not at fault because the Fire Dept. informed us that a guest on our floor had set off the alarm. The hotel is perfectly placed for restaurants, just walk out the back door to the Longhorn, turn right outside the hotel for a couple more and left just across West-end are more restaurants etc. Downtown is not too far but just a bit far for us to walk. I would definitely stay here again if I could get it at the right price.

Great experience at this hotel! We wanted to be within walking distance of the Broadway honky-tonks, etc. but couldn't afford to stay that close. We got a great deal for this hotel, and it was an easy short drive down to the tourist areas. Several good places to eat within easy walking distance. VERY comfortable bed! We had a problem with our room shortly after check-in, and the staff promptly moved us to another room when we requested it. Everyone was very friendly from the maid to the front-desk clerks. $12.00 for self-parking in the parking deck/$14.00 for valet service. One word of warning--many of the spaces in the parking deck are very narrow--it was hard to find a space when we returned late one night.

“Friendly Staff”

The staff here was extremely friendly. The rooms, not huge, but well equipped & the pool is very nice, although it could use a few plants. The courtesy van is a great deal for sightseeing. A few complaints: My daughter forgot her toothbrush, so we asked for one at the desk & told one could be purchased in the little lobby store. The store was out. Once upstairs in the room, I read the hotel guide and it said that if you forget something (toothbrush) they are complementary at the desk. Of course, there were none. The bartender in the lounge was very friendly & apologised for no snacks. Also, no chips, etc. available in the store. The store does sell ice cream though!
Upon return home, I discovered I was missing a set of keys--no big deal. I left two messages with houskeeping, per instructions from front desk, have they called you?
All-in-all a decent hotel &, for the right price, I'd stay again.

“maybe they just need a staff meeting”

Stayed here in mid June of 06. Check in was a nightmare.
First try, they didn't have the room ready. We were there for a family reunion, so we put our luggage in the room of a relative who had been there the day before. Since we were blocked on the same hall, we figured we could go to Centennial Park to the art show and move easliy when we returned.

Shuttle took us to park. Upon calling for the shuttle to pick us up (it was 8 blocks, hilly, VERY hot, and we had bad shoes, purchases and children), they said the shuttle was hung up in traffic on 440 and would be an hour, but if we walked, it would only be 4 blocks and they would have ice cold lemonade waiting for us.

We get there and there is no "lemonade" but the gal at desk points to the cooler and says "you can just get one of those sodas over there".
Anyway, they had NO rooms on the floor with our family, so they put us in some room that was checked in to someone else. So we called to get moved. As they assigned our next room, they said "OH, you'l like this there is a little balcony". There was no balcony, but there WAS a king bed, which we had confirmed and originally checked into a 2 queen.
Called again, and they said "No, ma'am, your room you checked into was for a king bed." "No, it was not, i have two kids, that is why I booked 2 queens". "But ma'am there is a sofa pull out in there. My 120#, 5'6" child is saying "No, I cannot sleep on that thing" which was indeed a joke of a bed with NO linen provided..."Well' ma'am do you have a confirmation number?" "Yes, of course"....on and on...until finally the room we got in was above my brother's room, with a balcony. My cousin was walked in on in his room twice by staff. Then, in the a.m. when my bill was dropped, I was double charged for the parking.

I kept feeling like I was talking to these little kids confused about their story and afraid to tell me their mommy was not home. Maybe the manager was off that day?

Anyway, I gave it three stars, because eventually the bed WAS comfortable, the bathroom clean, the front desk, although flaky was friendly enough, and, they did give me a 50% credit for the trouble. My cousin w/ the walk-ins got a total comp. Oh, yes and the valet parking guys were quick, kind and great with advice.

Better luck next time, hopefully.
