“Somewhere between "average" and "very good" for chain”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

Two overnight business stays in past couple of months.
Pluses:
Breakfast at or a bit above the Hampton average with variety of typical quality choices, but with ample space, quick refills by staff, clean tables and serving areas. Construction noise from next door (x 2) began by 6:30am on both occasions, though I was already awake so I was not bothered. A jackhammer was definitely at work before 7am on one of the days. If you are a light sleeper and plan to sleep in, either bring earplugs, or they may have some free for you at the front desk (in a cute little toy dump truck, a nice touch, I thought). Saw at least one recycle bin by a side door, but not sure if any others elsewhere. My rooms had fridge/microwave, but I think you have to choose that option (if available). Picky detail, but the doors fit well, without excess space on sides or underneath. Good light blocking by window curtains. Room decor typical Hampton, few minor signs of aging in hallways, but the rooms seemed fairly updated, fairly new tile in bathroom, for example. Beds comfy, fluffy bedding, clean mattresses. Plenty of parking.

Less good:
No information posted or in information book in either room to describe phone charges.
Lots of TV channels, but no "USA" network.
One room's AC unit was louder than the other - again ear plugs are effective against this.
One room was not as clean as it should have been. Yes, "clean" is subjective, but without all of the graphic adjectives, I can definitely say that it was not completely vacuumed. This same room had only one coffee cup, no pen or pad of paper - somewhat minor details, but it is still better when a customer feels that everything is tidy and in order. This room also had a "running" toilet due to a small tank flapper leak (easily fixed by me, not a huge problem, but wish had been addressed before my arrival). The other room was fine, without any significant cleanliness issues, no mechanical problems, and no missing items. Plenty of USA Today newspapers in the lobby on the coffee stand, but on neither stay was it delivered to the room.

The hotel is located in a great location with easy walking access to West End and Vanderbilt campus. Modern and clean from lobby to room and in between. The staff from check in to check out helpful and friendly. I could not find one negative thing until I closed my eyes to go to sleep. That !!## ac unit. Once the room got quite it went from a gentle " white noise" hum to cycling completely off and on every five to ten minutes. It was not just the compressor turning on and off, which everyone is used to. The whole unit turns on and off. We tried every adjustment on the control panel; auto fan, fan on, u name it. It seems to run in a "power saver" mode at night because it did not do this during the day. If it wasn't for the AC you have a great hotel.

Room Tip: we stayed a wkend and noted construction nxt door might be loud on early weekday mornings, ask for o...

From check in to check out we had the best service ever. The hotel was clean and very very nice. We had a slight issue with a wash cloth which was quickly solved. Friendly friendly caring staff. I can't say enough about this hotel and will go back next time we travel to Nashville. The Breakfast was good and the pool outdoor (nice).

We stayed at this hotel for a one night stay in August, 2012. Construction on a nearby property threatened to put a hamper on our stay, but this wasn't the case. The hotel and lobby are beautifully decorated and the two room family suite was well appointed. Full sized fridge and microwave made life easier. Bathroom was very nice with above average water pressure. Excellent stay overall.

Room Tip: Pick a room away from adjacent construction.

Perfectly nice hotel, clean, spacious room, great breakfast. However, was unable to get any sleep because the air kept turning on and off all night very loudly. I asked the desk if it could be set somehow so that this wouldn't happen, and the young lady was clueless. Also construction on building outside our window began at 5:30 a.m. Made for one totally sleepless night. Would never stay here again. And very expensive.

Room Tip: Be aware of construction - choose room on other side. Listen for a.c. and change rooms if necessary...

Was surprised when I stayed here. It's clean, modern, free parking, great location to Vanderbilt and Centennial. Only bad thing was lack of customer service that the evening manager (guy, dark hair, glasses) gives to his diamond customers. He was rude and very pretentious acting. Yes I am a diamond customer and yes I brought my kids to the suite. Don't be rude to mr when I ask to get fresh linens placed on the bed. Thats my choice as a customer. Sorry you are understaffed and working crappy hours on a Saturday night.
