The shuttle driver explained the Gaylord Opryland Resort is the largest convention resort in the US that doesn't have gaming, and I believe it. If you are directionally challenged be prepared. The place has several levels and raised walkways that required many stops at the "you are here" signage to reorient. But, at least it keeps things interesting. Attended a very large conference here and it never felt cramped. The entire property and Rooms were clean, staff super friendly, and plenty of venues for a business lunch or dinner. No coffee in rooms was a bummer. The resort has a kiosk at baggage claim level in the airport to book shuttle transportation. For the conference the RT charge was reasonable.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing into the resort. They have nice balconies. This recently switched to being...

I was with the Humane Society convention and this place was perfect for a group of this size, over 2000 attendees. Exhibition Halls are huge and the entire place is huge, you need to be in good shape to stay at this hotel because you can walk forever and ever. But the walks were gorgeous, plants and waterfalls and a very outdoorsy feel to the place. The only thing I didn't like about it was the breakfast restaurant called Cascades - it's extremely expensive and the food was just terrible. For $18 eggs they should put more attempt to make the presentation of the food better. We avoided that restaurant because of that experience. The restaurants as a whole are very expensive for what you get here but other then that this place was awesome!

I spent the night with my family at the Gaylord on our drive down to Hilton Head with my 70 something year old mom, my daughter and son-in-law and my 14 month old granddaughter. So, I feel like I can truly say this hotel has something to offer everyone !!! The staff could not have been more fabulous. Everyone from the front desk staff to the valet guys were friendly, helpful and just plain nice !!! The rooms are comfortable, elegant and spacious. The gardens amazing. The baby pool was a welcome surprise !!! We only spent a night BUT we will stay again. It was a great start to our family trip .

Room Tip: Love the atrium rooms !

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights. The property is huge and beautiful inside. Upon check-in, we were pleased that we were able to check in a few hours early. But the room we were provided was not yet cleaned. I called the front desk and we had to trek (it is truly a trek with luggage) back to the front desk to get a new room, where the front desk person seemed slightly confused but fortunately another more experienced person was nearby to assist her. It is easy to get lost on the property...as mentioned before the place is huge. The food places in the hotel are somewhat overpriced but no complaints at the restaurants we went to (Paisano's, Jack Daniels, Haagen-Daz). The Opry Mills mall is next door (we learned on the last day that if you exit from the Delta Portico, the mall is literally right there). There is a shuttle to the mall which we used on the one rainy day, but definitely walkable in nice weather. We also used the shuttles to go back and forth from the downtown. $15 roundtrip for the 10-15 min drive. We would recommend the Wildhorse Saloon with live music and free line dancing lessons. It was fun to watch. The spa experience was awesome! My friend and I each had massages and we felt pampered the whole time. The spa staff was very nice and accommodating. We also used the gym twice which was well maintained and had everything we needed.

I would recommend for a girlfriend getaway....no need to rent a car and it was a great place for a relaxed weekend away.

Probably the bigest hotel I've ever been. Three pubs, local beer, nice food. Service is discret but avaiable everytime you need. If you need peace I''m not sure if here is what you're looking for.
30 minutes by car from Nashville downtown.

Beautiful grand hotel with amazing restaurants but a little over priced.

I attended Animal Care Expo in May and I must comment on the quality of convention center that they have which was way beyond my expectation. It is so huge that every time we used to come to our Hotel room, we used to get lost....However we were given maps and all the directions were clearly specified everywhere in the hotel but you know how females are...can never read a map....

They have amazing restaurants of almost all cuisines....with amazing view of the hotel....

They have planned the hotel architecture so beautifully that it seems the hotel seems to be a whole city itself.....

It's all green everywhere......amazing time I had there......it was unbelievable how they have maintained such a huge property so well.....and the shuttle bus from the Hotel to the Opry Mill Mall is a good treat for all and is FREE......however its just walking distance from the hotel.....

Hotel Staff is very prompt in reverting for anything.....However I was disappointed when Fed Ex office inside the hotel charged me for a courier which my cousin sent me from Dallas saying its "Handling Charges" ....instead of my cousin paying for the courier charges already.....

The atrium is amazing....

Room Tip: Room with a view to the Atrium would be amazing.....

We are locals and have been to the hotel many times to walk through the atriums. This time we stayed here as part of a homeschool convention. We booked two rooms with a balcony overlooking the fountain in one of the large atriums. Our room was well appointed. The furniture had some light scuffs but the fit and finish of the room was top notch and it was emaculately clean. The matresses were deep and comfortable. Clean beautiful bathroom too (my pet peeve). Our balcony had a table and two chairs to relax. We could leave the door open at night and listen to the waterfall with a gentle breeze coming into the room. There are plenty of channels on TV, room service till 2am with a ton of options. Three large pools to take a dunk. The hotel is bohemith but you get the lay of it pretty easy.

Is the room worth it? If you are the kind of person who will splurge on a 40 dollar steak for your anniversary then yes you will love it. If you have a hard time letting go of the wallet for a special occasion then maybe not. We were there to visit and relax - and to me it is definitely worth it. Bear in mind you are not just paying for the room. Opryland Hotel is a city within a city - a destination in and of itself. I would expect to pay a similar price at Disney World for similar accomodations. People come here all year round just to see the indoor cities with rambling side walks, lush vegetation. It has the feel of staying on Main Street at Disney World (if you could do that). People bustling here and there - little shops to eat and sitting areas to relax. It was fun just people watching from my perch on the balcony, listening to the stream and fountain. The dining is pricy - Slice of pizza $5, Sub Sandwich with chips and drink $15 dollars, sit down dinner $30 dollars. But it is easy to drive out to some good local BBQ or walk to the massive Opry Mills where you have tons of reasonable dining options.

We are outdoorsy types and I love getting into the woods, climbing, hiking, etc. I saw several reviews complaining that this place is "artifical" or "too perfect". But this is the 21st century and I can equally appreaciate the massive, manicured completely artificial biosphere that is Opryland Hotel. No one complains that the gardens at Disney seem "fake" or that the buildings are over the top. Heck if Disney World were under glass we'd all be happier!! Get over it folks. It is a man made fantasy world just like any theme park, movie, book, or video game. You just have to appreciate it for what it is. And a lot of hard work and money goes into a place like this.

Treat yourself and your family. Even if you only do it once. I can tell you we will be back next year.

Room Tip: When you get a room with a balcony - make sure to ask if it is a walk out balcony or just a door wit...
