“Great views, great food and the best dessert ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012 via mobile

Having looked at some photos of this winery, we decided to head here for lunch. Hadn't booked but they were able to cater for the two of us with a table right next to the front windows looking out onto the great views from this restaurant. Service was efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was great to start with and relaxing but spoilt slightly when a large group of 30 people rocked up so noise levels were significantly elevated. Food was absolutely sublime. Had a mains and a dessert. The other half chose the better mains of John dory with so many different textures and flavours on the plate complimenting each other perfectly, all presented as an artful plate of food. I had the lamb which was served as an Asian dish, the fresh chilies, lemongrass and coconut flakes balanced to perfection, it was pretty filling and I was actually feeling a bit too full for dessert but so glad I convinced myself to indulge. My dessert consisted of a lime mousse surrounded by a lemon jelly roll, with coconut ice cream, burnt marshmellows, sorbet, a white chocolate ring with mint leaves sprinkled inside and a thinly sliced grilled pineapple slice...oh my god, this was the dessert of dreams!! Absolutely perfection, the combination of flavours spot on and to be presented in the way it was...hhhmm, I'm salivating about it right now!!! If you want to get some great food when you visit the yarra valley, head here, you won't be disappointed, just be prepared to pay a little more for such great culinary delights.

“Enjoyable day out but must be prepared to take it slow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Yesterday, we took a nice drive out to Yering Station for a late lunch. The wine tasting was great, one particular woman stood out as being genuinely friendly and interested, another was very kind to note that we can get a 10% discount if we bought the wine after our lunch. These are wonderful positive experiences which makes us want to go back.
Ah lunch was another experience all together. The restaurant is modern and open with superb views. The food was great, although the serving was a bit small, I guess just enough to satiate those with a small appetites. Similar to lilbrisbane, I thought their service was a bit slow, the food took forever to come, hence make sure you are not too hungry, not rushing for a next appointment! and also make sure you go with company you don't mind hanging out with for a couple of hours.

“Leave plenty of time for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We first tried to eat lunch at the Chateau but it was closed on a Tuesday so we went to the Wine Bar Restaurant instead. We arrived just after two bus loads so were asked to wait until 2pm. However, this was no problem as we filled the hour's wait with a tour of the very interesting art work exhibition and a wine tasting in the cellars. Lunch was delicious although my main of miso marinaded fish was a little disappointing. The view was great and the service was slow but friendly.

“Mixed Feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

I am a fan of this vineyard's many beautiful wines, and so was pleased when this restaurant was chosen as the venue for a family birthday celebration. The drive through the Yarra Valley is always pleasant and the vines are all starting to sprout ready for summer fruiting.

The main building is modern, impressive and I feel appropriate for the landscape. The restaurant interior is stark and sleek. It was a cold day outside, but inside the restaurant the temperature was very comfortable. Tables were set a nice distance apart, and despite the lack of soft furnishings and a full house, noise was not an issue. Many found the view to the nearby ranges pretty, but I thought looking over grassy paddocks and cattle to be uninspiring.

The menu sadly only had one vegetarian selection for entree and main, and the main selection was deep fried. Both dishes were, however, delicious and beautifully presented.

The six people at our table all delighted in how good the food was and we had each chosen different meals. Fresh, seasonal flavours and ingredients.

Great range of wines by the glass. We also drank bottled wine from across their range. Not a drop was left.

Service was polite, but overall not up to scratch. Someone always had to wait for a meal. That's really annoying, particularly when the weather is cool and hot food goes cold pronto. Wine glasses often sat empty and we had to catch the eye of waiting staff for refills.

The experience left me with mixed feelings. I would return there for a special occasion only if the service was improved. The food and wine is lovely.

“Go with low expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

The surroundings of Yerring station is beautiful. The cafe at first glance has an old upper class but warm English feel but don't let this fool you... The service was lousy where our water glasses was never topped up, but when one person at our table asked for more water, only their glass was topped up and not the entire table! Presentation of food wasn't anything special and we ordered a main size serve of mussels ($30) which only had 6 mussels! We asked the waitor if this was an entree and she said it was the main size... not impressed for $30! Much to our relief, we were charged $18 for the 6 mussels (entree size). Our experience was below average and our suggestion is to go in with no or little expectations to avoid disappointment.
