“What a shame....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We arrived at this wonderful resort set in the most magnificent surrounds and checked in with ease. There was a wedding taking place in the function room and adjacent restaurant.
Our 1 bedroom spa suite was lovely and comfortable.
After returning from and meal at a nearby winery and settling in for the evening from approximately 11.30pm until 2.30am we were continuously disturbed by guests who had clearly attended the wedding and were intoxicated.
There was yelling in the corridor, multiple door slamming, yelling within their room, loud music, loud taking on their balcony and furniture being dragged across their floor.
I called reception at 12.30am to complain and was assured that it would be taken care of.
At 1am, I called the room directly and requested them to tone it down....
Our reservation was made approximately 6 weeks prior to our stay. Surely knowing that they were holding a function and that guests of the function would be staying at the resort, that management could have planned the accommodation for the evening a lot better by isolating the wedding guests so as not to have an impact on the other guests looking to unwind in the countryside...otherwise a gorgeous resort set in a delightful surrounds.

Room Tip: Request a room upstairs with no one above you

My husband and I stayed there for our one year anniversary. The Restaurant was amazing absolutely stunning food and fantastic service. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to take advantage of the Natskin spa. The room was stunning with a huge spa that overlooks beautiful views. The only reason I don't give it a 5 point rating is there beds (king size) they have that really hard lump that runs straight down the middle of the bed like its two king singles zipped together. So if you and your partner wish to cosy up its really uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Request for a queen size bed. Their kings have those hard lumps that run straight down the middle li...

Me and my wife stayed for 1 night. The room was very nice with full equipment. The view from the balcony and the setting area is great. The SPA in the room was clean however, when we used it some dirt came from the water or so.

The staff were good and helpful.

Dinner at restaurant was very good and the staff are nice. My problem with the restaurant was the menu.
We had to choose from a options of 2 courses per person or 3 which is very bad for us since I was not hunger and was planing to order something light or only a soup. I had to order 2 course per person which costs $60!!! and this dose not include any drink or even a side dish like fries. Overall good food but dose not worth $130 for 2 people.

Room Tip: SPA rooms are nice but get the one far away from the reception for more privacy. Keep in mind the r...

we arrived to see a fabulous looking hotel in a sensational setting...all was going well until we checked in...the staff were inexperienced and young, that wasn't the problem but the Manager who came to assist ignored our presence and was demeaning to the staff member. The lunch was dreadful...although the staff were very pleasant and took the feedback of the 'mayonnaise' dressing on the caesar salad well. we decided to have our bottle of champagne (brought from home) on the balcony overlooking the valley...the jack hammer drilling that went on for an hour didn't help.
Dinner was great..the same staff were fabulous. Their wine is excellent.
Breakfast was basic and not included in the 'Accor' card holder discount.
I wanted to speak to the events coordinator and it too 25 minutes to locate her and I was told to 'wander down to the restaurant' to find her. There was a small leadership program happening in the functions area which is what I was looking at...except we want ours on a weekend, it became obvious that they don't need the weekend business...booked out for two years...I'll be going back to the Novotel in Creswick next year (we had a great conference there in February).

Stayed here for two nights as we had a wedding close by. I was expecting a fair bit for the price of the room. (Averaged $300 a night) We had a spa suit in which the spa had hair in it and also in the bathroom. The bench tops needed to be wiped down as they were dirty. I called reception and someone was sent to clean it all. No apologies were made from the staff member. They ran fluid through the spa and vacuumed.

My spa was looking out towards the neighboring bacony. Thought this was a shame to not be able to enjoy the view from the spa. Other rooms were better as we had 6 rooms in total for our family. Others in our family had booked breakfast with their rooms and were told on Sunday morning that they had no room for all of them in the restaurant. Maybe 10 of them.

The venue and grounds are amazing, I just expected better service for that price tag.

We decided to book a vineyard stay this trip and got a good deal with booking.com. We had a two bedroom apartment with a good view and could enjoy sunset every evening yet the rooms were not hot. One of the room was a one bedroom apartment with kitchen n spa bath. The other was just a room with ensuite bath but we could open both bedroom doors and viola! A two bedroom apartment. Reception was polite but not overwhelming friendly. We took a walk around the estate in the evening and again the following morning. The morning walk was really good for we had an even better view of the area as well as visiting the vegetable farm.. We couldn't go in but we could see that they had a good variety of vegetables on hand. I didn't try the spa but I think it is worth it to try it. Breakfast was good and you ordered from a selection and we had also arranged a dinner on one of the nights with wine and everything. I really enjoyed balgownie and I do recommend this estate. I am surely coming back! ;)

We had a delightful time with friends over dinner at Rae's restaurant planning our next holiday, together. The food was delicious and the view delightful. The icing on the cake was our waiter, Sam. He made all of us feel welcomed and totally relaxed. A lovely smile, good manners and efficient service. What more could you ask for?

Our suite was clean and tidy on arrival and reception staff were very helpful with offering advice on things to see and do in the local area. All in all a fantastic mid week escape. We will be back.

Room Tip: Our suite was situated on the top floor and had brilliant views of the Yarra Valley. Perfect for rel...
