“A bit run down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

We had been to Tazmazia in Tasmania so were a bit disappointed with the Ashcombe Maze. It looked very run down in spots. The cafe was ordinary. There were some good spots but we expected more for the price.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Dappled sunlight through trees on an unseasonal Autumn day. Beautiful fragrances, variety of gardens to wander through, burbling water and a shady gazebo to sit and relax in. Even the excited calls of small children who found another gnome hidden in the vegetation added to the atmosphere. A wonderful memory of our day.

“pretty but over-priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

For the entry price, we expected a bit more to be honest. There were some pretty sights, but if you're not into mazes, there are more spectacular sights to be seen elsewhere - skip the gardens and take a hike along the coast for free.

“Fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

great gardens, mazes are gorgeous - perfect for kids and adults alike! the rose maze was lovely and my favourite spot would have been the woodlands at the back of the property.

“Beautiful Gardens and Wonderful Place to Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Our visit was late December 2012, hence very very busy but not so crowded that you couldn't find places to sit in solitude and just enjoy the beautiful gardens and woodlands.
There are two parking areas and while the second area is really a grassfield under some huge trees, both areas quickly filled.
Aschombe Maze & Lavender gardens are divided into sections at the entrance is the Summer garden & Gift Shop, which leads you to the Maze Caf. The other sections are;
1. the Centre Garden withe the two Hedge Mazes
2. Pot Garden withe the Espalier Orchard nearby by
3. The Rose Maze
4. The Wedding Gazebo is the start of the Seven Tiers Waterfsall which leads through the Lower Woodlands to small Lake Ashcombe, nic eplace for a picnic
5. The Lavender Labyrinth
6. Small Woodland & the Lilly Pond, look for the elves in theWodlands Glade near the Lilly Pond

We had lunch in the Cafe and while selection was good it isn't extensive it is sufficent I believe for most people to find something they'd like and it was very nice. Even though the cafe was very very busy we were served quickly and our meal delivered without a great wait..and the Chai latte was great.
Off to the left of the Cafe is the Centre Garden with the North & South Hedge Mazes, I wandered through the South Hedge Maze and it was fun, if you are claustrophobic I would strongly suggest that you don't enter the Hedge Maze as the pathways are very narrow and walls quite tall and it takes a bit to finally work ot how to get out. My suggestion then is do the Rose or Lavender Mazes if claustrophobic.
One of my favourite sections was the Lower Woodlands with small Lake Ashcombe, nice spot for a family to sit and have picnic.
If your in the Mornington Peninsular area then a visit to this attraction is definetly worth while, even if you aren't into flowers and gardens, there is enough to keep both kids and adults happy.
