Owner description: Gold lured Timothy Stanton and his family to Rutherglen in the 1860s but he soon turned his attention to making fortifieds for Rutherglen's growing population. The two families joined together when Norman Killeen married fourth generation Jack Stanton's daughter, Joan, and the last few decades have seen Stanton and Killeen Wines grow to be a pre-eminent producer of luscious fortifieds, Vintage Port and big reds. As one of the few Australian wineries to have seven generations working in the business, S&K have their eyes firmly on the future, planting Iberian varieties best suited to Rutherglen's climate. A traditional, family owned winery with a contemporary touch!

“Lovely people wines and fortifieds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Building and grounds renovated since we last visited 3 yrs ago and so a much more pleasant experience. Staff great and proud of their produce. I tried a 1997 vintage port to compare with current port and was brilliant.

“S&K - a bit of Rutherglen History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Jacks Road I guess is named for Jack Stanton, one of the pioneers of the area and founder of this superb winery. The tasting room s a welcoming space often with a fire going and if you're lucky the obligatory winery cat may pay you a visit. There is usually a range of local preserves available too but we know you'll go for the wine. You can move from the lighter Merlot and Moodemere Red to a full bodied flavoursome Durif. There is full range of fortifieds - tawny, topaque (tokay) and muscat. An old fashioned guy like me can't resist the excellent Vintage Fortifieds (or VPs as we used to call them). If you are searching for something exotic "The Prince" with a blend of Portuguese grapes might be just what you seek.

“Terrific Wines and even better service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We tried lots of wines and not only were we given an explanation of each by a handsome young man, but a run down on the whole regions food. What amazing service! Stanton and Killeen is our favourite winery by far now... Most impressed.
