“Wonderful food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We enjoyed a beautiful meal at Lindentree. The scallop entrees was well cooked and served with a butternut puree making for a sweet combination. Gyoza was full of Asian flavours.
The slow cooked beef melted in your mouth and the snapper was fresh with a contrasting olive tapenade.
The extensive wine list had some great choices to match the dishes
If there is a downside, there were a number of flies buzzing around the window near our table. These could have been dealt with earlier in the day.

Overall eating with the Entertainment guide brought the bill down to under $150 for two.

Would recommend for a pleasant evening.

“Terrible experience. Not recommended.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

I booked tables at Linden Tree for my joint birthday with a friend and 20 guests for a casual lunch while touring the wineries in the area. The 'brunch' menu as advertised on the website was arranged and booked between myself and the events coordinator. On the day we were confronted with a 3 course set menu, which was expensive and with few choices. After bringing it to the attention of the waitress and the supervisor, we were then met by the food and beverage manager who was arrogant, rude and not helpful in the slightest. He tried to convince us to pay for the set menu and refused to listen to what I had booked, or look at the email confirmation on my phone. The group of us left the restaurant and wasted 45 minutes of our planned day with the issue, with having to wait the return of our bus and making other lunch arrangements. After emailing a formal complaint, it took 2 weeks to get a response from the general manager who apologiesed but also proceeded to make excuses for the pathetic behaviour of the staff member at Linden Tree. I was also informed that they have limited control over the content on the website... So beware. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, nor would any of my guests.

“Wonderful location and service let down by average food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Set in the Lindenberry vineyards at Redhill down the Mornington Peninsula. Beautiful spot amongst the vines and gardens. We started in the wine tasting room just before lunch. Some of the wines were excellent, some just ok, it was a great way to work out what we were going to have with lunch. The tasting is $5 a head but is deducted form the price of any wine you buy. In other words it's free if you buy a bottle (takeaway, not in the restaurant). We favoured the 2006 wooded Chardonnay, it's excellent. The Rose (a Pinot Noir), and Pinot Noir were also good. The lady serving us was very helpful and informative. They had found a case of 2005 Pinot Gris which they let us try and we bought some, a nice wee find! Yum!
So onto lunch in the restaurant. Friendly greeting, we asked if we could move closer to the fire, not a problem. The service remained good throughout our stay (thanks Emily). Lovely large windows ensured good views of the vineyards and garden. All very nice.
We had the soup of the day, a Creme of Cauliflower, nice but bland and a little thin. Once we added salt it was ok. I had fish of the day, a fillet of salmon, nicely cooked, maybe a tad over done, but no sauce so a little ordinary. Everyone agreed their meals were "nice" but disappointing that they didn't match the expectation of such a lovely setting. We met the new General Manager, hopefully he will have a food upgrade in mind. The decor could also do with a refresh, a little paint would go a long way. We had a lovely afternoon but when paying $100 a head including wine, dessert, and coffee, we would expect food at a 4 or 5 out of 5.

“Not Bad - only good value with entertainment card”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

Nothing bad, and the waitress was lovely and very personable, but the normal price for the lunch menu pretty expensive given the food wasn't particularly special. Nice room and enjoyable, just over priced for what you get. Worth going with a discount card.

“An inventive local menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Linden Tree at the Lindenderry Hotel is more than a resort dining spot. As the property also contains a working (and very good) winery, the culinary program emphasizes local produce and a seasonal farm to table menu. The seafood is as good as the game and the chef has a deft hand with seasoning. On my visits I've felt the service a bit lacking in polish, with a surprising amount of front of house confusion given how tightly run the back of the house seems to be. The service is friendly, just a little too loose for this standard of property.
