Owner description: For something decidedly different and entirely enjoyable, Queenscliff's legendary Blues Train is one of Victoria's most spectacular entertainment and dining experiences. The Blues Train departs Queenscliff between the months of August and May, offering a unique musical meal and show. With a capacity of 200 (50 in each of the four carriages) it has become enormously popular as a function venue and can accommodate and provide catering for parties of one to 200 people for a unique dinner and show - including weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, christmas celebrations and special occasions. The Blues Train event begins at the historic town of Queenscliff. Patrons tuck into a hearty meal prepared by our Blues Train caterers. Drinks to take on the journey are available on the platform from the T-bar in the guard's van, open at each of the four stops. At each stop revellers swap carriages to find a new band tuning-up ready for the next act. One of the carriages only has seating running along each wall. The seating arrangement and up-beat music in this carriage leaves little option other than getting up for a bit of a boogie. But you don't have to dig the blues to enjoy the Blues Train, you just have to be open to a really good time. The Blues Train runs along the old Geelong train line, stopping in turn at Suma Park historic homestead and winery, and then at Drysdale before turning around and making its way back to Queenscliff, again via Suma Park. The Blues Train has hosted many great musicians since its inception, including Aussie blues legends Jimi Hocking, Chris Wilson and Lloyd Spiegel and Aria Award winners Collard Greens and Gravy and Mia Dyson.

“A fantastic experience - Great team and service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I had a great time on the Blues Train last week. Tremendous music in each of the four cars! Reasonable bar prices and a great dinner! The staff were fantastic and it was good that Hugo made it clear that badly behaving guests would be ejected so as not to spoil the night for the 99% of guests were there for a good time. My thanks to Hugo and the team for extending my vouchers as I could not attend before their expiry date due to ill health. Recommended to all!

“Lots of fun with great musicians”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Leaving Queenscliff at 8 pm after an on board dinner (not spectacular but more than adequate) you rotate through 4 carriages featuring different blues, soul and jazz. Lots of toe tapping fun. A great evening out and well run.

“Fantastic music!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

The blues train is a good musical experience.
On arriving at the platform there is a bar & heaters so you are kept warm.
Dinner is served from 6:45- very average food- think Coles cafeteria 1970's- sliced chicken & beef with soggy vegetables & salad. I wish I had known this as I would have eaten before getting there.
The steam train is lovely- well restored to its original format.
There are four carriages & you start in one carriage and move at each stop.
There is a bar at each stop so you can buy drinks & use the toilet facilities on the platform.
The quality of performers is excellent- very talented people, good music and good fun.
If I could give one hint it is to start in b,c, or d carriage as at the end if the night you will end up in a seated carriage.
We started in A carriage & ended in D which is the dance carriage with limited seats- which personally I would have preferred to do at the first half of the night.
We also got a recording of the artists featured on the blues train that night - which was lovely.
All in all a great fun night- my only complaint is the food.... But this aside it was a lot of fun & I would recommend the blues train.

The Blues Train is first and foremost a musical tourism experience. We are not, nor have we ever, billed the experience, as a dining experience. We feed over 10,000 people each season and are often approached by customers after the meal with compliments as to the quality and the service of the meal.

That said, we thank you for taking the time to note the various elements employed to help make your journey with us as pleasurable as possible.

“Fabulous night "on the rails"!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

We had a group of 8 of us stay in Queenscliff for the night and take a journey on the Blues Train to Drysdale and back. We ranged in age from 35 - 85 and we all had an absolute ball! The format of the journey, changing carriages at each stop and experiencing a different band in each carriage was a great way to mix up the journey and experience different blues bands - we loved Sweet Felicia! Loved also the different decor in each carriage, the vibe of the music and being able to dance while steaming along! Can't recommend highly enough! The food was good too, great value for money for a truly unique experience!

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and then have a great night. Experience great music in each carriage and dance or sit and listen to your hearts content. Highly recommended but book early
