“Peaceful, Private & Perfect Hideaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed at the retreat and studio for two nights with our bridal party. Everything was immaculate and the peace and serenity was blissful. Linda our host was so welcoming and friendly and even baked us fresh bread for our stay! The studio was perfect for us newlyweds and the retreat was perfect for the bridal party, with 3 spacious rooms. Our breakfast was the tastiest and freshest we had ever had, freshly laid hen eggs and free range bacon and sausages. The fresh plunger coffee was a hit with everyone too. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. Could not fault.

Room Tip: The retreat has a treetop view while the studio is private and secluded.

So happy everything was perfect for your stay and wedding day! Thank you so much for your review and hope to see you back one day. I'll pass on your comments about the tasty breakfast to the 'girls' who laid your eggs! Warm wishes, Linda

We stayed in the Chocolate Retreat and as soon as we walked in we could smell the fresh bread baking in the oven. Linda, our host was very friendly & welcoming. Wild Patch Retreat is situated in a very serene location. All the facilities were great & the chocolates provided were delicious. Every detail & request was catered for and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Thank you Linda.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. It's particularly serene today with mist in the trees (it's still early morning) and just the sounds of nature. Glad you had everything you wanted during your stay and that you enjoyed our chocolates!

We stayed in the Chocolate Studio. This was a beautifully appointed room in a peaceful setting. Linda, our host, had started as CD playing in our room as a lovely greeting. This was after we called her when we were 10 minutes away from arriving. She was fast - the CD was still on Track 2!
The fire was already set - just waiting for our match to start it. It wasn't lit - despite our host offering to do so - because we'd asked that it be left for us enjoy the novelty lighting it :-)

We had also received a lovely confirmation email detailing our dietary preferences (including choice of light, dark or white chocolate; full cream or reduced fat milk; choice of home-made breads etc etc)

There was lovely linen, fluffy towels, the room was spotless and well appointed with beautiful outlook into the bush and gardens. However it was the little things in the room that made all the difference. Little notes explaining that the next door neighbour's dog would love a game of fetch if we cared to throw the (provided) tennis ball. Lovely quality coffee and a nice plunger. "Foodie quality" breakfast ingredients - the chipolata sausages were a highlight - as were the super super fresh eggs from the happy chickens who lived just at the other end of the garden.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing friendly stay - with a touch of "foodie" - please choose Wild Patch Retreat. It's lovely.

Thanks so much for the lovely review. It's fun doing all the extra things (like the ball for Max, music playing and gourmet food) and it's so encouraging that you noticed them and have described them for other people .. and then there's the chocolate and chocolate classes! Hope to see you back again. Warm wishes. Wild Patch.

"Once upon a time in the French countryside there was a quiet little village whose people believed in tranquilité - TRANQUILITY"
These are the opening lines to the movie 'CHOCOLAT'. Change the scene slightly from the French countryside to the village of Olinda in the Dandenongs, and you will find the perfect setting for a getaway for not just chocolate lovers but anyone searching for the perfect place for a tranquil few days break.
The Wild Patch Retreat cottages were beautiful, warm and comfortable. We were welcomed by a complimentary selection of hand made chocolates, home made bread and fresh laid eggs for breakfast. The cottage was just a 10 minute walk into Olinda village, making it perfect for dinner at a local restaurant. In the evening we settled down to the warmth of the log fire, a glass or two of wine and watching our favourite movie, which was of course CHOCOLAT.
Our two day mini break was topped by us indulging our passion for chocolate further by booking in for a workshop with Linda. This gave us a great opportunity to learn all about the art of handmade chocolates in a three hour workshop.
Linda was a great tutor, informative, very patient and we soon picked up the knack for tempering the melted chocolate. We also gained an appreciation of the skill involved in producing hand crafted Belgian chocolates.
And although the last school holidays are a few weeks behind us, we have still the memory of a lovely couple of days' break, of a beautiful cottage and being visited by Linda's adorable cats and introduced to her chooks. For chocolate lovers and those searching for a taste of TRANQUILITÉ, Wild Patch Retreat is perfect.
Thank you, Linda

We decided to spend the weekend at Olinda and Wild Patch Retreat seemed the most likely place to stay. It was far better than all our expectations, Linda was friendly and inviting, and because it was a little off the beaten track, it was quiet and relaxing. But even being in the bush it was a 10 minute walk to the township, so we could visit the shops and rhododendron garden, it was isolated enough so we didn't hear all the weekend through traffic.
The studio apartment was cosy and with a log fire, warm and inviting. It was easy to snuggle under the blankets and let the world pass.
For a weekend for 2 I would recommend this place as a quiet getaway.

Beautiful accommodation in a peaceful bush setting. Many little extras including freshly baked bread, fresh laid eggs, generous breakfast provisions and more. Linda was extermely friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the Chocolate making class and purchased some of Linda's unique Choclates to take home. The whole experience was wonderful. We would definitely recommend Wild Patch and hope to return again. Laurie & Shelly
