“WOW!!!-!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

I don’t think my boyfriend & I have said “WOW!” so many times in the space on 5mins!!!
Ross & Ophilia, you have done such an AMAZING job with the place.
The 4.8 tone Tower, holly molly! And the inside of the roof, with the draping material, just WOW. Such creativity!!! Ross, your stories are fantastic, it’s nice to hear the truth from the person who created it all :) !
Than you for your suggestions about where to head for dinner! The locals know best.
And that home cooked breakfast (my bacon cooked to perfection, extra crispy) and delivered to out front door, it’s was so perfect.
We stayed in the penthouse, which had the ‘olden day’ feel about. The staircase was, just, WOW… My dad (a chippy) was fascinated by the picture i showed him, he wants to come up and stay just to see it…
We can’t wait to return and stay in the tower!
Be back soon, L & M :)

Room Tip: All rooma have amazing views and themes!

We stayed over the Easter weekend, and couldn't have adored it any more. The Sandstone suite was enormous and well-kept, while we were looked after by very gracious hosts. And with just a short drive away form anywhere in the Ranges, there wasn't much more we could've asked for.

Room Tip: Only ever stayed in the Sandstone suite, so can't comment on other rooms, but I'm sure they...

Hi All, well I've just returned from a night away in Olinda with three girl friends. On arrival Ross the owner rambled on giving us a tour of our suite with insignificant rubbish about himself, his craftsmanship and that he's from a wealthy family. After a nice evening out for dinner we returned for the night, and over the evening another friend had decided to join us and stay. In the morning we woke to Ross innappropriately banging on our door and barging in telling us we need to pay extra money for the extra person that stayed and that he'd been up all night watching us basiclly counting how many people come into the hotel. His wife whom was lovely then proceeded to tell us he does this all the time! So sad for Ross that this is what he spends his life doing - but regardless it was an absolute invasion of privacy and totally innapropriate behaviour. They were charging good $ for basic, smelly accomodation also and I would not recommend this accomodation to anyone or stay there again. The raving reviews on this website don't add up to what the true experience is like.

Room Tip: Dont stay there at all.

My partner and I stayed in the Camelot Tower suite over Valentine's Day and loved it. The architecture was very impressive and we just adored the spa bath!
It all seemed very clean and well-kept, and the hot breakfast was of ample size. They had really thought of everything, providing bubble bath for the spa, plenty of towels, and even a display booklet of the menus of local restaurants to help us decide.
Expensive place to stay, but it's in a good location.
Would definitely consider returning in future, and highly recommend to others.

Very, very disappointed due to the misleading advertising and description. We were booked in for three nights however after looking at the dated decor, dark and dingy environment and lack of "Million dollar views" we decided to only stay for one night.

After making our feelings known to the owners we were told that the view was only partial from the Sandstone room that we had booked, but we could get a "Better view from the carpark or the Camelot tower". This is not stated anywhere on the website which implies views from all rooms.
The Sandstone 'cottage' is actually built onto the side of the owners house and the view from the room was of a rusty trailor. There was a lack of privacy as the driveway runs right outside the 'cottage', but should you choose to sit outside you would have a lovely view of the owners junk shed.
Maybe 20 years ago it was quite nice, but now the decor is dated and there's a pervading musty smell. Definately not five star accommodation.

This is my first review which I felt compelled to write after staying in the Sandstone Cottage as a lastminute booking. The space was amazing - so much nicer than a cramped hotel room. Close to a great restaurant made walking home after a degustation dinner with wine very convenient. The architecture is a must see in all the rooms and Ophelia and Ross go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and your stay as comfortable as possible. Although I agree with other reviewers that the decor was a little dated, the rooms were very clean and well maintained and the eclectic nature of the furnishings added to the overall charm of the room. We were lucky enough to be shown inside the tower and the upstairs suite which made us decide that we must come again in the future at least another 2 times.

We (family of 4 adults) were looking for overnight accommodation in Olinda as we were attending a family wedding. A Camelot Tower and Penthouse looked a little different on the website and the reviews were good, so I booked for a Friday night. Right from the start Ofelia and Ross were very friendly and very flexible about check in and check out times as we were wanting to get ready for the wedding and then have a good sleep-in next morning. We booked into the Sandstone Cottage which, from the outside looks like a holiday hut, but when you walk through the door it is a quirky, comfortable and very clean and spacious self contained cottage. It has a spa area as well as a very clean bathroom. The pantry was stocked with many snacky bits and pieces and a cooked breakfast was included which Ofelia cooked and delivered herself and a time suitable to us. It was hot and very delicious and we left feeling very satisfied.. Shower was fabulous, we were all able to have hot, strong showers one after the other without worry of hot water running out. Four poster bed was comfortable and the sofa bed was suitable for 2 adults. Ofelia had made it up, ready for us when we arrived. Would like to stay in the Tower next time as Ross took us through to have a look and it was truly somethiing out of the ordinary with magnificent views. They gave us much information about the history of the place which Ross built himself. It only sleeps two and would suit a romantic weekend getaway. The only negative about the Sandstone Cottage is a musty smell when you first walk in otherwise, it was a lovely experience. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Sandstone Cottage suitable for family accommodation. Four poster queen bed and pull out sofa bed whi...
