“Food was a let down...”

Lovely atmosphere. Great attentive service. Entree, sashimi platter. Fish was cut very thickly making it hard to handle. Was fresh though...Paella was lacking taste and the seafood was over cooked. Husbands slow cooked pork belly was partly inedible. Understand pork belly is fatty but it's hard to eat when it's not crispy. Let down by the food. Couldn't fault the service.

“Great Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Visited with friends for a coffee break and the restaurant is located with the most amazing views! A beautiful balmy May day and great company, coffee good felt timeless.. Didn't have time to dine but will visit again. Service of a high standard, and comfort factor good along the wall. No haste to leave so made for a lovely experience. Make sure cameras charged as plenty of opportunity for pics

“Beside the Seaside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

The service alone is worth the trip to The Rocks - on this visit, we were exceptionally well looked after by Theresa. Notwithstanding the current reconstruction of the Mornington Pier, there are also charming views, and the food is excellent.

We shared several dishes, including huge and succulent oysters Kilpatrick, tender salt and pepper squid and some tasty chicken gyoza which were complemented beautifully with soy sauce, coriander and some slices of nice, zingy chillies. We shared one of the daily specials: risotto, which was perfectly cooked and laden with locally picked pine mushrooms - utterly delicious (but definitely not low calorie!!)

The wine we wanted was no longer available but Theresa suggested a comparable alternative (which was actually better priced) and it was excellent. We probably should have stopped after our risotto but couldn't resist sharing profiteroles for dessert - filled with coffee icecream and drowned in hot chocolate sauce, they were a perfect ending to a really great meal.

“Awful fish and chips”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

Went to lunch with a friend and ordered the Rocks fish and chips. The fish was greasy with thick awful batter and it was served with reasonable thin chips and a 1/4 lettuce with dressing. It was overpriced and dreadful. The waiter was nice though and the wine good. But won't be going back.

“Ruined birthday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

Was taken here for dinner for my birthday by my lovely partner but sooo disappointed. I had kataifi prawns which were tough and overcooked and the pastry was burnt on the inside. The main course of paella was tasteless and the rice was overcooked and gluggy. I found two pieces of chorizo in the whole dish and the mussels were overcooked and shrunken in their shells as were the prawns which were so tough. Wait staff was very pleasant and service was good.
The only saving grace was the dessert which was a semi freddo and was delicious. I wouldn't go back there at the price to pay for really below par seafood.
