“A squeeze in Lemontree Junior”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Lemontree Junior would be fine for guests with minimal luggage, and wanting to eat out. However, we were on a long road trip, had a fair amount of luggage, and wanted to self-cater as much as possible. The room is nicely furnished in a cottage style, although had very little storage space and nowhere to tuck bags away safely so that they were not constantly tripped over. We stayed in very hot weather, but could not use the air conditioner at night because it is immediately above the bed and had a very noisy rattle - perhaps it just needs servicing. The small kitchenette is of adequate size, although the only hotplates are on a portable unit which is heavy and cumbersome to lift in and out of its storage under the sink. We could not find a knife sharp enough to cut vegetables or meat before cooking. Surprisingly in such a small space, there are two refrigerators - one bar sized and the other normal size. The latter limited the doorway access and also blocked off the cord for raising and lowering the kitchen window blind (essential to keep out the hot sun). It seems that the kitchen is not checked carefully between guests - crockery and glasses are stored on an open rack and some were covered in a greasy film which clearly had been there for a while. Also the ironing board cover was gritty - the rather old cover is too small for the board and falls off when the board is stored - looks as though it had fallen into a very dirty and sticky dustpan which was stored underneath the board. Previous guests had not cleaned the dustpan and neither had anyone else. A little maintenance and more attention paid to some practical details would make Lemontree Junior a pleasant base for exploring the interesting peninsula region, although I have to be honest and say we were disappointed. The nearest swimming beach is also further away than is indicated in the brochure.

Thanks for your feed back and I'm sorry you were disappointed as this is the first negative feedback I have received in 8 years and I have taken note to fix problems mentioned as soon as possible.Lemontree JUNIOR is hopefully going to be extended in 2014 which will fix any space /storage issues.

Being a family of 5 adults on a bit of a road trip around Australia, we recently rented the whole accommodation at Lemon Tree - both cottages. They both have beautiful decor, great amenities & are in good location for exploring the Peninsular. We had a tranquil, very memorable stay.

We stayed in Lemontree Jnr, the studio apartment behind the main BnB.
It was just perfect for a romantic escape. Comfy bed, basic kitchen facilities, heater, hot shower and big TV (and great price for Mornington - $140pn).
We really enjoyed the privacy of the studio. All the booking and organisation was done via email. The key collection is via a safekey box - no face to face interaction at all.

It was quiet and secluded. Having a car space in the driveway was also really handy.
The extra facilities of the studio are more suited for a summer escape (unfortunately we were there in rainy, cold winter). There is a beautiful little courtyard at the back and a gas BBQ for guests use. Would love to come back and enjoy it in the sunshine.

Lemontree Junior Cottage is a cosy, peaceful haven with all that you need for a re-energising getaway. Its courtyard gives you a feel of being in Europe. Maureen, its owner, is a thoughtful and caring person whose generosity topped of a great anniversary getaway.

Stayed here for 18 nights, a great base for exploring the Penninsula. Lovley studio with all you need. I was there when Mornington had heavy rain and flooding. Maureen could not have been more helpful. Hope to get back some time soon.
