“Didn't catch any fish!?!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We were in the area and weren't sure whether to go to the buxton or marysville trout farm. We ended up going to marysville. Entry was $5 for adults which included fishing rod, bucket, bait etc. we started out in the challenging pond and stayed there for about 45 min and caught nothing. Saw a few trout in the water but for some reason they weren't biting! Then we went to the easy pond and stayed there for half an hour and still caught nothing. Can't believe we couldn't catch a fish at a trout farm! Have caught fish off jetties before! The man there wasn't very friendly. He seemed completely over it. Environment was lovely but disappointed that we caught nothing. Luckily I had brought lunch! I was planning on eating the trout we caught as lunch but that didn't happen. Perhaps the fish weren't hungry ... ?

“Marysville Trout Farm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Trout farm situated in very pleasant surroundings on the outskirts of Marysville.
Catch a feed or just watch others fishing. Picnic facilaties availble. Gear for hire and you can have your fish cleaned and filleted for a reasonable charge.Have a chat with the owners and hear the stories of how they have fallen on hard times during recent times.

“Cheap and fun for family. A must go. BBQ FISH WAS DELICIOUS. YUM YUM.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

We decided to go to a fish farm for a day trip. Google a few places and camp across Marysville trout farm. Orginally, the webpage wasnt appealing as the other fish farm and they don't cook for you as well. We didn't want to cook. But we decided to go there anywhere cos it was very cheap. Went to supermarket, bought some meat and salad, we decided to have a bbq there. Luckily we went there, the extry fee was cheap, compare other fish farm and the place is quite big. It was so quick to cook the meat and we had a quick bbq before we went fishing. Didn't catch anything from big pond but u van catch a fish at the easy pond. The owner cleans and marinate fish for 5 $ per fish. We bbq it, it was delicious. My kids r normally fussy eaters but they loved the fish. The marinate was so delicious. You have to go there to try. We didnt want to cook at the beginning but it was so quick and easy to cook. The kids loved it at Marysville, they didn"t want to leave. A Must go for family. It was a great day. The owner was so friendly and there r several different ponds for u to fish. Keep the kids busy for hours. We will definitely return. This place is cheap and fun, don't get sucked into those fancy fish farm that charges tourist rates. It was so easy to bbq the fish, it was so delicious.

“A fun activity with tasty rewards”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We visited the trout ponds with several little ones in tow, it was great for them to fish with guaranteed results!
The salmon pond is seriously challenging and needs patience.
It was a cold day, but on nice sunny day it would be wonderful to bring the rest of a picnic and then use the onside BBQ to cook your catch. You can get fresher than that!
The host was lovely and it's a great way to support these businesses getting back on their feet after the fires of 2009.

“Great BBQ-ing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

Dropped in to see the trout and did not want to fish so they offered to catch the fish, clean and prepare the fish and then supplied the BBQ. What a fish, about 1kg each was eaten and we had to miss dinner that evening. I have never tasted fish so nice as it was barely killed and then on the BBQ. Worth a visit, more peaceful away from busy times.
