“Quaint, luxurious hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014 via mobile

Stayed for one night at the end of our Great Ocean Road trip.
Located in a very quiet neighborhood. Definitely off the tourist map.
Stayed in the room with the brass/copper bathtub and it was gorgeous! The room is luxurious and tastefully done up. Breakfast was delicious and my wife was most impressed with the food and crockery.
Highly recommended for couples.

My husband and I are from Canada, we have just completed a tiring, extensive yet amazing tour
around Australia. Our second last stay was spent at Saint Patricks and wow we just loved it.
Unfortunately we only had 2 nights.
The decore is old world antiques mixed with the finest modern amenties.
The building is of local sandstone and solid yet with built with elegance
We had bedroom 5 , I believe named after a former nun who lived there. It was very romantic, the
bed was so inviting we did not want to get out of it, we woke to a cacophony of birds singing.
The breakfast was Scandinavian with salmon, salami and ham accompanied by home made condiments
with home made bread and jams plus freshly home stewed fruits (some from St Patrick's garden).
Dawn, the cook is an ex chef who specializes in delectable home made food. Even in the bedrooms we
had home made cookies.
The hosts were exceptionally warm and guided us on where and what to do in the area.
We walked for hours around the volcano park and saw koalas and kangaroo. The emu's ate food from
our hands
We loved Saint Patricks and hope to return with our daughter and her husband who lives in Brisbane
for a longer stay on our next visit

The host was embarrassing and awkward, packed away the cold platter at breakfast while we had our cereal.
We were told off for arriving at 2pm, when their check-in is 3pm (my mistake but no need to be unpleasant, we could have returned an hour later, but we were let in under sufferance), and when we came to breakfast the next morning (during the time we were told breakfast was served) the same staff told us off for "nearly missing out", as though she is waiting to refuse service and slam the door shut if she can. This certainly detracts from the visit.
I expected a cooked breakfast, but it was just a serve yourself cold selection, very disappointing at $300 a night. Very overpriced, though the room was nice and very clean.

After a long and enjoyable drive along the Great Ocean Road on a Harley it was such a treat pulling up to this grand old building of yesteryear Victoria. Thanks to Vivienne for a special welcome and short tour we were able to relax before dinner. This hotel has been extensively restored and the adaption from convent to boutique hotel is awesome. The building is very large and with only 6 rooms available for accomodation and 3 other stylish rooms and a summer house all avail for relaxing.
We were amazed at all the little extras included and such quality as good or better than any 5 star hotel anywhere in the world. The bed sooooo comfy, the different loungerooms avail to relax in are all decorated to a tee and all the small complimentry extras make St Patrick's worth the extra 10 min drive from warnambool.
Trust me make the effort to stay here at least once in your life , it will set a new standard for your hotel booking requirements. And so Affordable too. Viv's mum is the cook and she does a wonderful job providing various homemade goodies. will definately be back again with all our friends too. You needent pack anything just a change of clothes as everything is here.

St Patrick's has a feel of a B & B but with all the privacy you want . Vivienne is a great host without being too in your face as some B & B hosts can be........

Vivienne , well done

Room Tip: All rooms are upstairs , if you are physically challenged .

We were looking for an overnight stop off on our drive from Adelaide to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road. We chose St Patrick's as it looked a bit different and the Tripadvisor reviews were so positive (with a puzzling exception). It is in a country town, about 10 minutes drive from Port Fairy. Our experience was absolutely excellent. Vivienne, the owner, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We had room 5, a lovely spacious room with a 5+ star bathroom. Vivienne recommended various possibilities for dinner. We went to the most local, Alix's - it proved to be an excellent choice which I have reviewed separately. We walked there (about 10 minutes away) so I could have a drink. As Vivienne predicted, when they heard we were from "the Convent" (St Patrick's was a convent in the past) they drove us home. We were particularly fortunate as we were staying on an evening when Vivienne was entertaining a group of local people. She invited us to join them after our dinner and we had a most enjoyable hour or two with a group of really friendly and interesting people. Breakfast was excellent. This was a great place to stay, and we had a really memorable evening. It is a long way from Scotland - but we hope to be back again!

I stumbled on this property online while looking for a boutique near Warrnambool. I am glad I did.
St. Patrick’s is located in an old convent building – a couple of blocks away from a church bearing the same name. The building is imposing, build in 1906. The experience at the hotel was excellent.

We were greeted by the host, Vivienne, who graciously welcomed us and gave us a tour of the building. As we were the only guests that night, we got a free upgrade. We toured all the rooms, which were different in size and décor but all equally stunning. I am not sure how to define the style of the rooms, but think of a turn of the century art deco infused with some modern amenities like flat tv. The bathrooms were invariably big, classy, with distinctive bath tubs. Robes, fluffy towels, and high quality products (from Serendipity and H2O) were provided. The bed was comfortable, big. Sherry wine and glasses were provided in room for guests to consume as nightcap. What can I say: magnifique!

The common areas of the hotel include two living rooms – one with sofas and one with a table –, a dining room, and a room upstairs (which used to be the convent’s chapel). The chapel is an eclectic mix of sacred paraphernalia and turn of the century furniture, and it includes a rather extensive book, DVD, and music CD collection.

My only complaint with the room was that it was a bit cool and that the heating system took a while to bring the room temperature to an adequate level - a more powerful A/C system would be welcome.

Continental breakfast was served in one of the two dining rooms, and included cereals, fruits (try the marinated pears!), homemade toasted bread and jams, orange juice, and hot beverages. Again, Vivienne did a great job preparing it for us.

If you like dogs, there are four resident LabraDoodles on site that are as friendly as it can possibly get! We took the biggest one – Rocco – on a walk and he was very well-behaved. The dogs stay on the backyard, so if do not like animals that will not be a concern.

Overall, it was a great stay at St Patrick’s. We really loved the place and we look forward to come back one day to Koroit to stay here again. I strongly recommend this place to anyone seeking a luxurious, pampering, and romantic experience while in the area.

P.S.
- The hotel is located minutes away from the Tower Hill Natural Reserve where emus, koalas, wallabies, kangaroos and other animals roam free.

Room Tip: Room number 1 is delightful

Beautiful place with attention to detail every room has a different look and aura to it. It kind of took me back in time and gave us a feeling of a home rather then being in a hotel. Vivienne was an amazing host, she walked us through the beautiful place showing us around and introduced us to her lovely doggies. the stay was so relaxing and the little things that made it even special were the chocolates on the bed and the home made cookies in the tray which were delicious, we had our brekky by the fireplace, everything was so nice and cosy. I would love to visit again i felt really pampered. they have a beautiful collection on antiques from India .
