“What a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2012

After driving from South Australia in heat wave temperatures, we were hot and bothered and tired, and fantacising about a dream motel with a pool in a picturesque setting. We were disappointed when we arrived at the place we'd booked into, and more disappointed when we were told that there was a problem and we had to stay elsewhere.

That was until we sighted our alternate accommodation, The Grampians Motel. It is set back from the road on tree dotted grassy acreage with kangaroos and birds around, has a pool with 360 degree views of the hills and an excellent restaurant and bar. We were extremely happy with our clean, well appointed and cool room, from which we could watch the busy blue fairy wrens and the occasional kangaroo. Additionally, we enjoyed excellent service and a delicious breakfast and dinner at the restaurant Chris and Jeff were extremely hospitable and helpful and made our stay such a pleasure. It was great to be able to relax in the pool and soak up the scenery and atmosphere after a busy day travelling and bush walking. We were so pleased our original booking didn't work out as we are convinced we had a much better experience in Hall's Gap at The Grampian's Motel. Thanks Chris and Jeff.

We stayed over the new year weekend and had a brilliant time there. The owners had the perfect combination of running a great motel while also making us very welcome. The pool had amazing views and was great to relax in. We paid a small amount extra for a new bathroom and it was immaculate and tastefully done. The rooms were also very clean and the restaurant had some great food. Seeing the kangaroos on the front lawn in the evenings were also fantastic. We will always have fond memories of our stay.

We were lucky to find this little gem during a last minute escape from Melbourne over New Years Eve. Charming owners, Chris and Jeff, are easy going and very friendly, making us feel completely at home during our three night stay.

Situated on a 12 acre property the Grampians Motel is truly a slice of paradise. Amazing views of the ranges, you’re spoilt for choice whichever way you turn. A great outdoor pool to cool off from the heat (a MUST in the summer months!), kangaroos roaming the grounds at dusk, and the restaurant - The Views - has good meals, great service, and very reasonable drink prices. There’s also a BBQ if you prefer to cook yourself, and plenty of spots around the grounds to sit, eat, drink, and take in the fabulous scenery!

The Deluxe rooms are spacious and have all the necessities including Air Con, heating, TV, microwave, fridge, kettle, couch, table & chairs and of course, a bed. The style is basic, but at $125 per night during peak season we thought it was a great deal and we were very comfortable ($110 off peak). There are also Standard rooms which are smaller at $110 per night during peak periods, $89 off peak.

Loved our stay. Hope to be back!

What an entrance - beautiful, in a lovely spot. Did not have to loof for kangaroos- they were there. Geff and Chris were great hosts, very friendly and extremely helpful, especially when we needed rain gear! We thought it was sunny all year round! Chris had to sort out a problem with the agency with whom we booked the accomodation and did so very effectively.
Food was great - breakfast and evening meals. They have two good chefs.
The chalet was all you wanted - spacious, clean, comfortable and the views were great -
looking to the hills.
Geff and Chris have made a tremendous start to their time at this motel.
We liked so much that we stayed an extra night.

We spent two nights at the Grampians Motel during our anniversary and really enjoyed the experience. The Deluxe room is spacious and got everything we need (free wifi, electric kettle, hair dryer, iron, guest self-laundry). I wish we could have a queen bed instead of a double. The wonderful views from both sides of the hotel are second to none in Halls Gap. The motel restaurant (The Views) is highly highly recommended if you stay here. The quality of the food and services are simply excellent. I couldn't find any other places around Halls Gap with the same variety of dishes on offer, and most importantly at a very reasonable price. Jeff was also kind enough to shout us free champagne on the night of our anniversary. Breakfast at the Views was also very lovely. The egg benedict and omelette are the killers. I love Chris and Jeff's cheerful hospitality and would definitely coming back here again (probably grabbing more friends and family with us too)

Amazing views of the Granpians range, an excellent place to stop after 12 hours on our motorcycles. The route was absolutely stunning and most definitely worth the time. Service was excellent, after staying in various other models/ hotel we found it very refreshing to be greeted with a home-style room and a tasty meal. Big thanks to Chris and Jeff (owners) who really made our stay something special.

My Brother and I stayed at the Grampians Motel for 1 night. There is a long driveway through beautiful grounds, with Kangaroo's roaming around and wonderful views each side of the Motel. Accomodation is a long back from the main road so very peaceful location. Couple of km's out of town. Standard Room has a flat screen TV, Queen and Single beds and a table and chairs. Bathroom's were dated but clean. Free Wi-FI was a bonus. Excellent to have a cafe/restaurant on-site serving good food with nice outlook to the mountains. Small outdoor swimming pool which is relaxing to sit around. Excellent value for money and I would stay here again but would probably pay the extra for the Deluxe room because of the newer/more modern furnishings.
