“Kangaroo's Galore!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Halls gap caravan park is right in the heart of town and at the foot of the Grampians.
I Have been here a few times and each time we loved it! If you go in spring you will see little joeys in their mothers pouches everywhere!
Cabins were nice and clean. There is fire pits everywhere so you can toast marshmallows. Venus baths is just a short stroll from the caravan park. There is no swimming pool but there is a public one withing the grounds that you have to pay for
I went in winter once and it snowed up one of the mountains!
Beautiful scenery!

My Family & I camp here every year, the past 2 years we have stayed in their 6 birth,Twin Deluxe Cabins. The Caravan park is only across the road from the Stony Creek shops-walking distance, also across from the Caravan park is a Park with public BBQ's, Picnic tables, Play Ground and Public Pool. The Caravan park is smack bang in the centre of Halls Gap and at the foot of the Grampians. You have Mountains at each angle totally wrapped around you,...you couldn't ask for a better location. Every day Kangaroo's & their Joey's bounce down from the Mountains into the Caravan park..throughout the day till dark they lounge around and feed on grass- very friendly!, also sometimes a Cockatoo may land on your veranda for a pat or feed..wild ducks and their ducklings sometimes roam the Caravan park. Some Parrots are also found in the trees too. Abundance of wildlife at this Caravan park daily. we stay here in Summer & Our cabin was Very clean on arrival and all have Ceiling fans & Split Air-Conditioning units- Fantastic for Summer!. The Staff are Very Friendly and accommodating to every need. Amenities are very clean also. Their is allocated camp fires throughout the Caravan park, Camp Kitchens- (fridge, Tables & seating, Microwave, Benches, Fireplace etc). Tennis Court, Play ground, Public Pool, coin operated electric BBQ's and Picnic tables... also the Pinnacle walking track & Venus Baths track are situated within the park so no need to drive to these to hike them. My Autistic 3 children loved it so much here they didn't want to go home when it was time to leave neither did i . it's a Great Budget park also. some other Caravan parks around Halls Gap are a little pricey around Peak times so this was great for us and for people who are on a budget. i highly recommend Halls Gap Caravan Tourist park to everyone... the hardest part about it is you won't want to leave... December 2013 we will be back but we are bringing the Family Tent this time..for that total Camping experience! yay!!.

This caravan park is right at the foot of the Grampians. It is in the heart of town and there are good eaterys within easy walking distance or you can cook in your van and then enjoy a leasurely evening beside your very own camp fire. All you need to do is go for a drive to see the sights and pick up some wood or if you are lucky enough to have some left over by the person before you or you meet some lovely friendly people like we did you can share their fire on your first night and then share your wood with them the next night. As the sun goes down behind the mountains and the stars appear, your fire burning hot, a glass of wine or a beer and some wonderful company you will feel you are in another world. The one you had forgotten exists. There are wild Kangaroos and ducks and of course the spring ducklings and joeys. One must remember however that these are wild animals and therefore respect them as such. The ducks don't like you approaching their chicks and will try to peck you shoes if you do and the Kangaroos should always be given a wide berth. They give you the feeling that they own the park so don't get TOO close especially if a male is there with his harem and there is another male close by. It was interesting watching two male bucks eyeing each other off. We thought we were in for a show when the largest male reared up on his tail but that was enough for the younger one who just took his leave quietly. The big male then lay down with a most regal air and surveyed the scene around him which included about 6 caravans and their occupants. It was interesting though to watch this behavour first hand. Of course the draw back of having this wonderful wild life so close at hand means you must also avoid their droppings whilst walking through the park.

We stayed for 3 nights in our caravan on a powered site. It was a last minute booking but we got a great site with a fire pit. Staff where very friendly and the amenities where very clean considering how busy they where at the time. We will definitely be back again.

Positioned at the base of the mountain, right opposite the main street and kids park....couldn't ask for a better location. We did be of the many walks up to the pinnacle right from the park! The kids loved seeing the kangaroos wandering around the park during the day and night too. Toilets were clean and we loved the fact that you could have a fire at nights as it can get rather chilly.

We stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe Cabin. It had a double bed in one bedroom and 2 sets of bunks in a second bedroom.
It was clean, and comfortable enough for my family of 2 adults + 1 child BUT would be VERY cramped if you tried to squeeze 6 people in which the cabin supposed to sleep. There are only 5 dining chairs at the table and a 2.5 seater couch, only room for 3 towels on the bathroom towel rack and only 1 frying pan in the kitchen - not really set up for 6 people.
It was also VERY COLD. There was one column heater to heat the whole cabin. We left it turned on maximum from the time we entered the cabin to the time we departed (including overnight and when we went out) because it was freezing!! We slept with ALL the blankets on and watched (the VERY TINY) TV with blankets over us too. It really is not enough heating for winter (we are from Melbourne, so used to Victorian weather) but i don't think I felt warm the whole time we were there.
On a positive note, the location is fantastic. A short stroll to the shops and cafes, a playground and public pool if you are there in summer. Kangaroos greeted us in front of the cabin each morning and came right up onto the cabin porch.
We would go back and stay there again, but not in winter (or the height of summer!).

Room Tip: Ask for Deluxe Cabin 44 or 45, they are right on the end of the row and look onto grassy area where...

Friendly and helpful staff at checkin... friendly and helpful grounds guys that help you get your caravan into your site... (who also jumped on some noisy kids using petrol motor remote cars – some parents!! ) well done guys...
Pretty reasonable cost at $34 for a powered site...

Nice heated floor in amenities blocks..

Only negative is that I had a little trouble getting proper temperature in shower :(
