“A great spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

We were able to get a great package for our two day stay and really enjoyed the spotlessly clean and well thought out accommodation. The staff had thought of everything you might need. Breakfast provisions were just wonderful. We enjoyed reading about the eco-friendly cottages and the use of wind power and solar power, and even the eco-friendly way they were built. The view from the verandah was very scenic. We explored the local area and will be back again.

Thank you, and it was nice to see you again. We're glad you enjoyed reading about the 'Eco' side of the cottages, as it is an understated side of the cottages. Drop by again for a glass of wine and a pizza, or spend another weekend with us.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Eco-Cottages late January 2013. The layout and comfort is superb, the appointments are top class with good attention to detail. Breakfast was great. To stand on the deck and look out over the vineyard is a memory we will cherish for a long time. If we lived closer we would definitely stay again. Barbara and Bob are very friendly hosts and the wines are good too!

Hello Pat. It was nice to have some WA visitors here at the winery. We so admire the wineries and accommodation that is offered in Margaret River. There is something special about staying at a winery and sleeping (almost) in the middle of the vines. Glad you enjoyed it and visit again.

Each year for the past 21 years, my wife and I take turns in choosing somewhere to go for the anniversary weekend. We've only missed one (wife was 8.5 months pregnant...) We've been to caravan parks, B&Bs all around the place. Being my turn this year I wanted something not too far from Melbourne, a bit classy, with a homely, laid-back country feel. Both of us are keen on the environment, and we've sought out other similar places which have taken the environment into consideration when choosing a destination. Gisborne Peak simply ticked all our boxes. We had two fabulous nights, enjoyed excellent wines and the company of such friendly and knowledgeable staff, really knowing their wines, and a font of information about the local area. We enjoyed local markets, wonderful scenery, beautiful weather and left feeling relaxed, and very disappointed to leave all this behind. We will most certainly be back !

Room Tip: Each Cottage has wonderful views of the surrounding vineyard and hills

Oh Frank, what a lovely review and story. It was like reading a chapter in a novel. I couldn't wait to get to the next sentence. You're a good writer and really set the scene. I loved the line that simply said "Gisborne Peak simply ticked all our boxes".

We do have wonderful staff and they get a copy of all reviews so they can also bask in the glory too. Thank you for writing this and we do hope that maybe on another anniversary you might consider re-visiting Gisborne Peak Winery Eco-Cottages.

It's almost vintage time - we expect to pick the first weekend in April. Another good year!

Lovely stay for 2 nights. Clean and very comfortable accommodation. Breakfast provisions were amazing. Wonderful to wake up each morning in the middle of a vineyard with all the birdlife. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the locale. A great base for exploring this part of Victoria.
Would definitely be happy to stay again.

Hello Jeff, Thank you for the kind words. We so glad that you enjoyed our 'little piece of heaven' here in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria. We've had a few visitors from Tasmania stay with us, so maybe the word is getting around.

We are at the gateway to the Macedon Ranges and beyond, to the Bendigo Goldfield region, yet still close to Melbourne and the airport, so you're right - a nice place to base yourself for exploring the region.

Hope to see you again.
Barbara

Wife and I stayed for one night, booked on the same day. It was lovely. Hosts are excellent and everything has been thought of in the setup of these cottages. A very relaxing quiet stay. Would book again with no hesitation.

An enjoyable weekend amongst the quiet of the vineyard. Cottage well stocked for a stress free break away from the city. Supplies for breakfast were sumptious from a choice of sereals, eggs, bacon, beans, toast yoghurt, spreads and muffins. Will certainly return again.

Hello Jenny,
Thank you for the excellent review of our Eco-Cottages. I think February is an excellent time to stay as the vines are so green and growing and healthy and the cottages have a dress-circle view of them, as mentioned.

And breakfast always tastes much better when you are on holidays! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks

Barbara & Bob

We have returned home after two nights staying in the Eco-Cottage, ours was 'The Fernery' at the very top of the hill. We checked in at the cellar door and it was a friendly start to an excellent stay - we were given directions to the nearest supermarket, and even directions to our vine! (Gisborne Peak run the Adopt-a-Vine program, so staying there to visit 'our' vine was our main reason for booking this stay.) When we opened the door to our cottage, everything we would want (and more) was provided, and the DIY breakfast was more than we could have expected: fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon, a range of breads, muffins, cereals, juice.... perfect! The furnishings, bedroom, bathroom were all immaculate and again covered all that we could need. The location is oh so peaceful - the other 2 cottages were occupied but we did not hear a sound other than a cheery 'good morning'. Surrounded by vines and native planting (with labels so you know what they are - what a lovely touch) this is a great site, and all 2 minutes walk from the cellar door. We were lucky enough to have Bob show us the technology that makes all of this so eco-friendly - the solar panels, battery storage and back-up generator all out of sight but working away. The location is pretty quiet - we went to Hanging Rock and Sunbury - but exactly what we needed. We did get to sample the wines and pizzas on the Saturday, all served with a helpful smile. If you have an interest in wine, we can highly recommend the events too - by chance we were staying when Bob and Barb were running a 'Canopy Management' session and had booked that too - friendly, informative and a great way to spend a day.

Hello Ali & Alan,
What a great time to visit! You were able to take advantage of the Adopt-a-Vine Hands-On day, which made it even more special.

Thank you for the lovely review. You obviously are observant people and it was nice to read that you noticed so many small touches. And, you were shown the 'Mad-Scientist' power centre - that must have been an education. The eco-side of the cottages is quite understated yet is so involved. Glad you enjoyed the insiders tour. Bob is always happy to show anyone the machinations of the place if they show any interest at all!

When are you coming back??
