“Very quiet and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

We decided to stay in Beechworth another night after finding our day had been busy and we still had more to enjoy. This motel was close to town and had vacancies - we were very glad that we stayed. The room was very quiet, very clean and comfortable. Good hot shower. The host gave us good advice on where to eat. It was a very short walk to town centre and close to the pub. We had time to watch some television on the quite large screen tv, and one of the best things about the stay was that real milk was supplied for our cuppa! Much nicer that UHT.

Just loved this motel. The location is the best in town only a 2 minute walk to the bakery and shops. Our room was spotless and had a massive sized T.V. The beds were comfy and the shower great with plenty of hot water for the family. Everything worked and there was a toaster in the room. The kids liked the free internet and kept their friends updated with their daily posts and uploaded photos. The owner gave us a choice of about 20 dvd's to go with the dvd player. The kids loved the pool, they were in there most of the time we weren't exploring Beechworth. I liked that I could watch the kids in the pool from a shaded outdoor lounge. Hubby liked Bridge road brewers and loved that he could buy extra beers from the motel. We used the BBQ for breakfast and tea. The lady at reception gave us all of the plates, knives, forks and BBQ gear we needed. The motel is only a 2 minute walk to the local little supermarket which is great so we could easily get supplies for all of the family. The reception staff suggested age appropriate activities for our kids 6 and 9 as well as suggesting some things we could do for free. All in all a great stay with great hosts in a great town. We will be back!

Room Tip: Great for families.Huge TV and Free Internet.

From the moment we arrived we were made feel welcome, Brian and his team really know how to make you feel at home. They provided us with great local information on where to go for dinner and activities and attractions we could see and do. The Hibernian hotel was just three doors away and across the road.{Close enough for a easy stroll and far enough the we couldn't hear any noise}. They were more the happy to help out whenever they could. We stayed for 5 days over Christmas and the room was fresh and cleaned everyday. Breakfast was delicious, and their was fresh milk put in our fridge everyday for our coffee.
The location is great, only a short walk to the centre of town. I would defiantly recommend the place and will be recommending it to all of our friends.

Room Tip: location is perfect and staff very helpful.

We stayed at the Carriage Motor Inn over the New Year's long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable and most importantly cool, given that temperatures over this weekend were in the mid-30s. The rooms also have a fan and air-conditioning however, we rarely had to turn the air-conditioning on because of the lovely shade cast by the elm trees on the street.

The motel is centrally located and most of the Beechworth shops and restaurants are within a two minute walk.

Yes, the rooms are dark but I would suggest the that this reflects the preferred building style when the motel was built. Appreciate it for what it is - I personally am a big fan of 70s architecture and wooden ceiling beams.

The owners, who staff the reception desk, were very friendly and helpful, referring us to another motel in Beechworth when we were unable to book the Carriage Motor Inn over the Easter weekend. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Disappointed! Misleading advertising! Photos shown to promote the Carriage Motor Inn are vastly different. We paid $150 a night for a room booked on WOTIF.COM that in reality was so TIRED, DATED, DARK and depressing . Even though the bathroom was modern with lots of natural light it had not been cleaned properly and came complete with previous guests hair stuck on tile in shower and a single hair from another part of a person’s anatomy stuck above the towel railing! I realise this is just a Motor INN, but felt that we were mislead by the photos posted on their website. The price for what we received was a total rip off to say the least . Hosts appeared to be insincere and in it just for the money. I personally would have not stayed anymore than a second before insisting on a refund but my husband being the person he is didn’t want any fuss. Next time though I know different.

Good Morning Onelifeonelove,
You and your husband purchased one of our package deals not just room only as mentioned in your review. Our Beechworth Beckons Package includes Tobacco Road Merlot. It has just been recommended in the top 20 best buys 2011 by the latest Winestate Magazine. Also included were a box of Lindt chocolates and two cooked breakfast for two. On the first morning you both had soft poached eggs, bacon and toast. On the second morning you were offered a free upgrade of breakfast in our restaurant which included a selection of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juices, toast, jams, eggs, bacon and grilled tomatoes. You declined the offer and breakfast was again happily delivered to your room. I would have to question why you chose to stay for 2 nights if you were so unhappy with your room (No 20)
It is disappointing that you did not inform us of the missed hair in the bathroom as this would have been seen to immediately. Our staff work very hard to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and take great pride in their work, however our staff are not robots and occasionally they may miss something. This is not an excuse but, this would have been addressed immediately if you had let us know.
I will not comment on your remakes about the hosts as personal attacks on staff are always inappropriate.
We are aware that our rooms can be a little dark at different times of the day and this is due the property being surrounded by majestic elm trees. At the moment they are covered with new bright lime green leaves and against a blue sky just look like perfection itself.
Thank you for complementing us on our newly renovation bathrooms, they do look great don’t they. Did you also notice the new Dakin inverter split systems, 94 cm HD LCD T.V, New lounge and high backed dining chairs.
We have had over 820 people choose to book with us through WOTIF so far this year and have 4.5 out of 5 guest satisfaction rating. We really do try to ensure our guests enjoy their stay in Beechworth.

We have stayed here before and always feel very welcome when checking in. The day we stayed was very cold . Our room was already heated there were electric blankets on the bed and fresh milk in the fridge. The rooms have been updated since we were last here. The bathrooms have been done up and there is a huge digital TV. The rooms have the most beautiful timber cathedral ceilings and new colonial style furniture. After speaking to the owners about how lovely the rooms looked they said they didn't want to look like every other motel room. They said they wanted to keep with the historic feel of Beechworth. We think they are well on their way! That night we walked up to the Gigi's for dinner and than strolled around window shopping. Our breakfast was delivered to our room. the plates were hot and the portion sizes were good for the prices charged. I had scrambled eggs. They were the best eggs I have ever had. My partner had eggs, bacon and sausages. and couldn't eat it all. We love that they didn't pile everything on top of the toast as most places do. The motel offers free internet and laundry but we didn't use it this time.
The next day we bought some lovely cheeses and smoked trout from the cheese shop and some bread sticks from the bakery for our drive home.
