“A nice, throw back place with kind waitstaff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This is a genuine local place. The historical pictures were wonderful and the waitstaff was very kind. There could be more vegetarian options but this is a small town so one wouldn't expect to see much. My husband said his omelet was perfect: thin, tender egg with pre-cooked vegetables—not the usually rubbery "fluffy" stuff that one usually sees. Too bad the resturant is for sale and as a result, could go out of business. Message to everyone: if we want to see healthy downtowns; nice locally owned places; and keep our towns alive and, don't go to the chains including Walmart.

“Love this place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

I try to stop by every time I go to or from Nashville on I40. It's in downtown Monterey between exits 300 and 301. Very good, homecookin' type fare with friendly service and fascinating old photos on the walls. They open at 6AM and have both breakfast and lunch specials. The lunch special I had recently was pork loin with several side dishes, and it was almost more food than I could eat for about $6. A bacon, egg, lettuce sandwich with large orange juice for breakfast was $5. Beats the interstate fast food joints by miles, with much better selection, service, and easy parking right out front!
