“Some hiccups on recent stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We have stay at the Monteagle Inn several times over the years and would have definitely given it a five star experience. But on our recent stay, we had some challenges. First we stayed in a wing of the Inn that we had not stayed in before. We found this wing noisy (we could hear people above us walking around, smelly (strong smell of bacon in the morning), and the bed was crinkly because they had plastic covering the mattress. One of the things I really dislike is a plastic cover over the mattress because of the noise and because it reflects your body heat making it uncomfortably hot to sleep.
To have the best experience stay in the wing that overlooks the church. It is quieter, no plastic on the mattress when we stayed there in the past, and not smelly. And these rooms tend to be lower cost. A good example that more money doesn't necessarily give you a better experience.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms in the church view wing.

Thank you for your review! We welcome all reviews good or otherwise. It is nice to hear you have stayed with us several times before. We hope you had the opportunity to rate us on those occasions as well. We have two downstairs rooms only. The other 11 are upstairs. With our downstairs rooms being close to the foyer, we do charge less for these than the upstairs rooms. However, we were confused by the plastic on the mattress! We have had the inn for 11 years and have never had plastic on any of the beds! Our guests love the 20,000 thread count sheets and we sell a number of sets of them each month. One of our common compliments from our guest is being awakened by the smell of our applewood smoked bacon! We are sorry that you did not find it a mouth watering experience as others do. We pride ourselves on understanding our guest's desires for their stay and making their visit outstanding and special. As always, we look forward to your return.

From the moment we pulled into the property, we knew this was an exceptional place. The owners are extremely personable and go out of their way to make you feel special. The bedrooms are updated, roomy, comfortable, quiet and we can't wait to return.

The rest of the accommodations are very comfortable, roomy and it feels like a home away from home. From time in their spacious living room to reading on one of the porches, you will not want to leave.

The food is excellent and the staff are genuinely glad you are there.

Great cozy place. I've not stayed in an Inn before. It's really a big house and you stay in a bedroom; not a hotel. The tv's are downstairs ; not in the bedrooms. It's very cozy and very nice. Maybe not a place to take your rowdy kids even though they were VERY NICE to my two sons during our stay.

We had not planned on going to Monteagle but were told good things about the place and the Monteagle Inn. Absolutely wonderful accommodations, privacy, friendly and helpful staff like Mark, the innkeeper, and a fabulous breakfast. We have sworn to return. A great bed and breakfast. Lee and Penny Baker

Room Tip: Great sheets!

Stayed here last Monday night. Had a great time. Would highly recommend this inn. Was greeted by friendly staff that were efficient and caring. There is a 24 hour drink station that provides warm and cold beverages 24 hours a day including homemade cookies and lemonade. There were chocolates on the pillow. The chef really catered to the guests at breakfast in the morning, served in a cheerful room with plenty of windows. The wine cellar features over 400 kinds of wines, some which can be purchased by the glass. There is a large, comfortable living room with flat screen tvs, board games and reading material. Little touches like the candy basket at the front door make this inn a special treasure.
