“The great food would take me back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

This restaurant has great appeal. A modern setting surrounded by wonderful water views with great food and friendly service. Standouts were the crab entree and the peking duck which was succulant and tender. However do not expect the duck to be served up as in a Chinese restaurant - this duck was served sliced with an excellent jus made from the leftovers. Portions are small so two or three dishes make for an interesting tasting menu.
We travelled by ferry and walked the short distance to the Pavillion which is situated close by.

“Magic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012 via mobile

Another restaurant that's trying the shared plate concept. We went there for lunch. They suggested 3 per person of the entree size. We went for 1 entree size and 2 main size. The entree size averaged $25 which wecthougjt was very overpriced for the size of the plate. We had the prawns. The flavour was amazing, very fresh but it was a very small serve for the price. We the had the whiting for $45 and the lamb for $38. Both were great dishes, especially the lamb. You can't beat the setting and the food was wonderful but overpriced. Cotton Duck's plates were by far better value and quality without the view.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

We had hoped that with such a great view that the food would be great too. Unfortunately it wasn't. It was overpriced for the tiny portions that we. The fish we had was bland and the lamb wasn't very good quality. It is worth noting that the desserts and the wine list were good but we were generally disappointed given the price we paid.

“Terrible new menu”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

So, if you look at all these reviews you will see that everyone who has experienced the new chef and menu 'change' has been terribly disappointed ans basically there is a running theme. The new menu is a 'sharing' plate idea, however whilst they say 3 plates make up a entree and main - NO WAY. The portions are tiny, Prices inappropriate, food quality good but that is expected with the reputation and price, however 2 other tables on the night we dined were as disappointed as us. We visited on the first night of this new menu - CHANGE IT BACK. I complained professionally but to no compensation when still paying a $650 bill for 5 people who were all leaving very hungry and unhappy.
Keep your customers and change the menu/chef- just an idea!

“Pretentious horrible food.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

I'm in counselling - our favourite restaurant has changed chef and menu, and now has the status of being our worst dining experience ever.

Apparently, we visited on the 2nd night of the change. If only they had warned us of the brand new dining experience to expect when we booked.

When we came the only sharing food on offer was lamb - which was 'off' at 6.45! There were are piddly plates for sharing. There was no description of the food on the menu, and the staff couldn't help us. So, when our friend ordered 'Crystal Bay prawns' he got raw minced prawns with 'foam'. Ugh! Honestly, everything was horrible, and we walked out half way through. To their credit, they did not charge us, but that didn't make up for the embarrassment of taking friends visiting from the UK there.

When we asked for information on the menu, the staff told us constantly they 'were in training' and didn't know, and the manager used that too when we complained.

We have been to this restaurant several times before, and couldn't fault it. Where is the previous chef?
