“Perfect Oasis--best nights sleep”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2010

A perfect relaxing retreat. The do not allow cars on property---so it is incredibly peaceful. The property is rich in history and the setting is spectacular. The room are spotless and have been modernized while still preserving the historical integrity of the structure. My room faced the harbour. I could leave the french doors open and hear the waves from below.

The full breakfast is not too be missed. The staff is overwhelming friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is arguably one the better spots in manly.

Loverly place, shame the rooms are poorly insulated and you can hear a pin drop at night. We stayed when there was a wedding reception on the grounds. This reception wound down after 2am, we hardly slept a wink. Before you book, check if there are any functions, if so, give it a miss in favour of a traditional hotel room in Manly. Breakfast was backpacker quality. Great views

I have just returned from an overnight stay at the Q Station.
Firstly the grounds and hotel itself are very unique and with an interesting history no doubt.
The rooms........not all have their own private ensuite with toilet and bath, so if you do not want to go to an outdoor communal shower room/ toilet you are best to make sure.
We had a very nice room with ensuite that had a bath. The room was small but comfortable.
The beds we found were also very comfortable and for the tv you do have a selection of movies to choose from. Also it seems most of the rooms share beautiful verandahs with seating for you to sit outside and enjoy nature with a glass of wine. But make note to bring up your own wine or you will have to go back into Manly to get some.
The bathrooms lacked a few things.....firstly bathrobes and second body lotion. Yes they are minor but what hotel does not provide body lotion? Slippers would also be a nice touch. The rooms are also lacking a minibar, hence bring your own !
They do have a guest lounge with a vending machine with some snacks and a communal fridge for you to store your items. But I would not be storing my precious wine a few blocks away in a communal fridge, thank you.
The other things......Room 33 which was our original room is right beside the breakfast room, not too private and I am glad we changed. Also breakfast seemed rather poorly run. They were not keeping up with stocking the items they were running out of and that particular morning were told they had no juice at all just water! Also the room itself was not very clean, dead bugs on our seats, one was squashed on the window also being breakfast itself for a bunch of other little creatures.
As far as reception everything was ok but they do "valet" your car. Great! Until you want to venture into town and they tell you to go up the hill to the right to the parking lot. Okay you think it is just a few feet away..until you find yourself on an adventure hike to find it. My opinion valet means both ways and someone else should be hiking up there to bring your car around.
The Boilerhouse restaurant was nice and good food but don't expect to get a sandwich or burger. Apparently the engine room serves that but for some reason they were also not open that day. So because we had ordered pretty much the only thing to our liking at lunch had to venture into Manly for dinner.
There seems to be a lot of events there and therefore seeing the hospital was off limits also.
The gift shop really is lacking and sells very random things and not a lot of it.
IE Q station fridge magnet that looks like a business card with a magnet slapped on the back. Would be nice if they sold chips, bath products (for your bath) candles (for romance as they don't have any at reception either) perhaps more essential items would be nice.
Overall it was a nice place and quite relaxing and we didn't much notice any noise with a few exceptions. II would stay there again but this time would bring my own wine, candles, robe, etc and be better equiped. Also bring a pair of walking shoes! It's a big place.

I booked one night here for a treat for myself and my partner, after reading the reviews of the other places in Manly, decided to not risk it, and booked with Q station.
The views from the rooms, and the walks you can do around the accommodation are just lovely. The room was a great size, with an ensuite and the sitting room. For the price, we picked up a special for $180 and were pleasantly suprised. My partner was intrigued at how I found this place.. thanks trip advisor!
As mentioned by other reviews, you do tend to hear other people in adjorning rooms, but not a huge amount. I guess the test would be if the hotel was full.
I would definitely stay here again, and for longer so that we can enjoy some of the tours that they have on offer. We did take a walk down to the beach, it would be wonderful to visit in summer. With the short trip into town why would you stay anywhere else in Manly

We stayed on a saturday night in a "personal room with a garden view" for $175. Great value. Request room 28. We were right on the corner of the best views in the house. We moved our table and chairs up to the end of the balcony with wine and a picnic to take advantage of the harbour views and it was really beautiful.

The room was clean and modern and the personal bathroom was also nice.

We did a ghost tour which was good. Buffet breaky was great and the staff were very good.

The hotel was in a great location on the Nth Head at Manly with spectacular views, and even its private own beach. It was only a 5 minute shuttle from Manly Wharf which was very convenient. Had a fantastic meal in the restuarant and was impressed with the quality of both the food and the service. We had a harbour view room with the beds being very comfortable and the rooms a good size

Having stayed at Q Station as overnight guests in 2009, we liked the venue so much we decided it would be great for our wedding, which would be a small-ish affair of around 45 people. Q Station's wedding co-ordinator Katie does a great job in pulling together the external suppliers and organising Q Station staff to make it all happen. New head chef Michael also helped us create a good quality, varied and tasty reception dinner which was well received by our guests. We had use of the First Class Dining room, which was ideal for our size of wedding party and situated next to the P5 lawn where our ceremony took place...although it won't be available from next year (presumably to reduce wear and tear on the original C19th fixtures?) We also had 8 rooms for the night located around the First Class Dining Room, which was ideal as it gave us the exclusive use of the surrounding veranda and accompanying harbour views. Overall, we felt it was a great memorable choice for a wedding that afforded us a sense of privacy as well as some fantastic photo opportunities around the historic site and down on the wharf and beach.
