We stayed on a saturday night in a "personal room with a garden view" for $175. Great value. Request room 28. We were right on the corner of the best views in the house. We moved our table and chairs up to the end of the balcony with wine and a picnic to take advantage of the harbour views and it was really beautiful.

The room was clean and modern and the personal bathroom was also nice.

We did a ghost tour which was good. Buffet breaky was great and the staff were very good.

The hotel was in a great location on the Nth Head at Manly with spectacular views, and even its private own beach. It was only a 5 minute shuttle from Manly Wharf which was very convenient. Had a fantastic meal in the restuarant and was impressed with the quality of both the food and the service. We had a harbour view room with the beds being very comfortable and the rooms a good size

Having stayed at Q Station as overnight guests in 2009, we liked the venue so much we decided it would be great for our wedding, which would be a small-ish affair of around 45 people. Q Station's wedding co-ordinator Katie does a great job in pulling together the external suppliers and organising Q Station staff to make it all happen. New head chef Michael also helped us create a good quality, varied and tasty reception dinner which was well received by our guests. We had use of the First Class Dining room, which was ideal for our size of wedding party and situated next to the P5 lawn where our ceremony took place...although it won't be available from next year (presumably to reduce wear and tear on the original C19th fixtures?) We also had 8 rooms for the night located around the First Class Dining Room, which was ideal as it gave us the exclusive use of the surrounding veranda and accompanying harbour views. Overall, we felt it was a great memorable choice for a wedding that afforded us a sense of privacy as well as some fantastic photo opportunities around the historic site and down on the wharf and beach.

My husband and I stayed at the Q Station on our wedding night. Since we had our wedding at St. Patrick's Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Manly, and our reception at the Sebal down on the beach, we wanted something that was close by in Manly. Several of our guests were staying at the Sebal and the Novotel...but we really wanted a place that felt a little more secluded. The Q Station turned out to be the perfect solution.
The staff were amazing and because we informed them it was our wedding night they made sure that we got a great room with a harbour view. They also allowed us to have champagne and snacks prepositioned in our room and allowed us to drive in escorted.
Although the balcony was not divided from the other rooms, we happened to be there on a quiet night and so we didn't see anyone at all apart from a wild bandicoot that visited us in the evening.
After the busy wedding preparations and the high of the wedding itself, it was a really nice and relaxing place to spend our first night together. We are thinking about staying there again for an anniversary.
One thing though, is that all the rooms are quite unique so it would be hard to know exactly what you are getting when booking online... if it is a special event just talk to the staff as they are wonderful and will probably do all they can to meet your requests.

I stayed at the Q Station recently on a girly getaway with 2 of my best friends. Having heard and read good reviews about the Q Station, we all were very excited when we had the chance to score a great deal via a promotion for a harbourview room for the weekend.
Our stay was not exactly what we had imagined it to be. Below are some of my comments.

Rooms:
We had booked a 'harbourview' room but it was more like a 'treeview' room as the harbour was hidden by overgrown trees blocking any view whatsoever. The room itself was tiny, with not much space inside, especially for the 3 of us. Surprisingly, we had NO TOILET OR SHOWER! To use these facilities we had to use a communal 'out house'!There were approx 3 toilets and 3 showers which could all be in use at any given time by both men and women. A little scary of a night time if you ask me!
The phone in our room did not work. So we had to call reception with our mobile phones. The lock on our front door broke, so we only had access to our room via the door on the balcony.
The balcony was shared, with only a little partition seperating adjoining rooms. No privacy. Rooms walls were very thin as I could hear our 'neighbours' talking and walking about in their room. We had no housekeeping, so we had to make our own beds. Beds were comfy and room decor was cozy but minimal.

Staff:
Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Transport:
Parking is limited but free. To get around the Q Station you are NOT allowed to drive so we had no choice but to call reception to send a van to pick us up (The place is 'hilly' in sections). A bit annoying and restricting.

Restaurant & Breakfast:
The restaurant food was nice but pricey. The breakfast in the boiler room was a nice start to the day and consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages, fruit, cereal, juice, tea, coffee, cakes and pastries.

Grounds & Activities:
The grounds were kept clean and tidy. Besides the ghost tours and bushwalks, there weren't any other activities to keep you entertained. It was a fair way away from everything and a tad boring, even for a romantic getaway!

My review would not be 100% honest and complete without mentioning that the Q Station is a heritage listed site and forms part of Australia's history. It is the old (haunted) quarantine station where immigrants were quarantined on arrival into Australia. Since it is heritage listed, there were a number of restrictions when converting the site into a hotel/resort such as, noteably the toilets and showers.

In summary, I did not pay the hefty price tag usually associated with this accomodation and thank goodness for that because I would have been left extremely dissapointed. By Australian standards when paying over $300 a night, there are certain expectations you expect to be included in this price such as ensuites, working phones and locks, activities etc. I did not find the Q Station value for money and for this reason, will not stay here again.

We stayed 5 days at Q Station and had the good fortune to have a room overlooking the ocean. Fantastic view. Very nice room with comfortable bed and roomy bath. Everything so clean and neat and VERY quiet and relaxing. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the meals at the Boiler Room as well. There is much to explore at this wonderful spot.... a lot of history and sites of interest. Wonderful hiking trails not far away and easy access to town if you desire. The staff is friendly and helpful. We hated to leave and highly recommend this site to anyone looking to rest and relax and enjoy the outdoors.

I recently stayed at the QStation and it was everything and more I thought it would be. The restaurant was definately worth it for that little bit of something special. The staff can't do enough for you and made us very, very welcome. Everything about this hotel from the minute you arrive is amazing, the views as you are driving in are spectacular. We can't wait to return!
