Me and my partner are doing 6 months Oz followed by 6 months NZ. We're on a budget, but not a backpackers budget, and having done extensive research into Sydney's accommodation options the Admiral Collingwood Lodge seemed like our best bet. Not a hostel (which aren't cheap in Sydney anyway) and not an overly priced hotel (of which there are plenty in this city) This place has proved to be a great find - comfortable, very homely and welcoming, and extremely clean. We were here in May, just in time to catch the tale end of Sydney's autumn before heading north to the warmer weather. We even stayed an extra week simply because we felt so comfortable here. We couldn't agree more with previous guests comments regards the shared bathroom facilities - it's really not an issue as there's plenty of them and they're kept spotless. It helps of course that the whole lodge was recently renovated. The shared kitchen is all that you need too - plenty of plates and utensils, and everyone seems to clean up well after using it. We never found it busy, and we were often the only ones there. Bonus! The garden's great too, if the weather's warm it's a fantastic place to sit outside - inc BBQ. In summary, we were delighted with it and we're planning to stay here again for a few days in a few months time. A big thanks to the former manager Walter and owners Rob and Jen for a great fortnight. (FYI Trip Advisor, it's unfair on the Admiral Collingwood not to include it within the city of Sydney. Drummoyne itself is a lovely area, one of Sydney's older
suburbs, and only 15 minutes from the CBD, with plenty of
buses and the option of the ferry nearby. It's a great area to stay in)
