We have loads of Thai Restaurants in Sydney and quite frankly it can get a little boring.
The food I am pleased to sat at Papaya was anything but.
We were looking for a quiet table and found one at the back of this relatively large eating house. It was spacious and although the basket like chairs were strange, they were pretty comfortable.
Waitstaff in beautiful pink Thai Silk clothing were helpful and attentive, and the food arrived quickly. Water had earlier been brought to us.
Our starters of Soft-shell Crab, Chicken Satay and Prawn Cakes were all very tasty and were accompanied by appropriate sauces, and attractively plated.
Mains too were good being: Roast Sliced Duck, Pad Thai, BBQ Lamb Chops and a Green Papaya Salad, accompanied by steaming white rice.
The restaurant is BYO, lighting is subtle and all in all it was a most pleasant change from the normal green/yellow/red curry routine, and mass produced starters one often has to put up with in restaurants claiming to be authentic Thai.
A pleasant and refreshing change with good food and good service.
Dinner for four including BYO and a reasonable tip came to $150, which I feel is good value for the food and restaurant quality that Papaya offers.
