“STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2009

My husband and I are seasoned travelers. We used a
"getaway" from Interval international. We arrived and the place looked like a welfare hotel. The lobby, elevators and hallways were dirty. The room was dirty. Marks on walls, dirty bedspread, dirty rug. My husband went to open up a cabinet and it fell off in his hand. We asked to change our room. They put us in a newer room. It was more spacious but the halls were still dirty. The room had a leaky toilet and leaky air conditioning unit.
We left after one night.

Ok, this is going to sound like im someone who works there and is just trying to up the hotels rating but im not and i dont. First off, ive never been to miami before, i was expecting it to be nothing but hot and loud. it was the exact opposite. great weather- great room. Everything was great. like some other reviews say that the decor was too bright- get over it your in miami near cuba.. i had no problem with it. everything was extreemly clean. we had booked our hotel room on another website and saved 75% on the price of the room!!- when we got there, they were out of standard rooms so they bumped us to to a two bedroom suite!!!!!! i cant believe how clean everything was considering how many mirrors they had in allllll the rooms! the pool was great the kids pool was great.. the beach for their part was extreemly clean as well, they even had chairs and loungers on the beach that were free to use as well.. the only thing was that the kids play ground was taped up and unable to be used- we were like the only ones with a young kid anyway but our kid enjoyed the beach more anyway... also, you may be next to a pier but u are unable to walk down to the end. its a restaurant in the front... and closed off at the back.. overall, its was great. we are so going back!!!!

My Husband and I just got back from Miami, FL. We stayed at this hotel. It was the perfect for what we were looking for in a hotel. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversay and had an oceanfront room on the 11th floor. The view was great! The staff was very helpfull and friendly. Valet parking was excellant and was only $15 a day and only took them about 5 minutes to get the car everytime. Would suggest renting a car. There are some shoppes and restaurants close by great bagel shop across the road called Ensteins. The hotel gives you a feel of being in the carribeans with all the bright colors, palm trees on the beach, and tiki huts that you can rent. Very nice pool with kiddy pool and bar. We ate at some very nice restaurants like Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale which was only about 20 miles away, Joesph's on the water was only about 5 miles away. Very good seafood restaurant on the water way. We also ate at Baleen restaurant in Coconute Grove which was about 20 miles away. Very romantic restaurant on the water with semi private tables. South Beach is only about 10 to 15 miles straight down Collins Avenue. Adventure Mall is only about 5 miles away and has a great restuarant called Bella Luna. We had a great lunch there. The room was clean and spacious. We had good space to store our clothes. There is also a safe in the room that is good size. We had two TV's, pull down bed, couch, microwave, and refrigerator. We loved this hotel and can't wait to go back. No problems at all. Was a little skeptical after reading other reviews from people. We had the time of our life and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a great relaxing vacation.

I stay every year at this location my husband and I every year for the past 3 years there was a gentleman by the name of Pedro Pena that everytime we would see him it was a difference maker his service his smile he had the complete package of what hospitality was really about its ashamed he wasnt there this time. This is a very nice hotel but this time time I think I wouldnt be back again I was not greeted as I was use to and things werent the same. Just letting the hotel know service is a plus in the hotel business just have to go through more training. The rest of the stay was ok I would recommend this hotel.

When we arrived at Newport Beachside Hotel after our flight was delayed we were given an upgraded 6 person , 2 bathroom room which was sooo big! The beach is on your doorstep too so that's a big bonus. It was a lovely hotel and the only negative thing that we can say is that the parking is not free! I know that it is normal in the USA so It wouldn't put us off returning in the future to this terrific hotel.

Dont listen to others reviews. I had def done my reserch while planning for our vacation. We wanted a place that was right on the beach, some peoples reviews made me a little leary of this place. Pricing was excellent !!!!
We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite, with 3 adults 1 teenager & 2 yr old. The room was excellent! Everything was up to date in my opinion, room had 3 TVs, a king size bed & a double, 2 jacuzzi tubs one that could fit 2 adults, 2 seperate bathrooms which was needed!!!! All your soap & shampoo is from Bath & Body works which is a nice touch. The pool is sooo wonderful & warm, the baby pool was unbeleivable! My son could have stayed in there all day. The beach was clean, dont let others say diff. water warm & clean, we found plenty of shells & conch in the ocean & beach line. Water was clear enough to snorkel in with no prob. The property ground in clean & very tropical like. There are alot of activities that are free (included in your resort fee). Plan ahead for lunch if you plan to be on the beach or pool all day. Food at the pool bar is a lil expensive & drinks as well. Everything includes a 18% tip & their state tax. .... Again plan ahead for that. Parking is either valet for $15. a day or self parking across the street $10. We valet....it was easier.
I will def. stay here again, no need to look at other places. Everything is close to this area, places to eat, Hollywood, FL is about 15 min. away and great local shopping!!!
I give this place a 9 out of 10 !!!!

I read reviews of this hotel that said people with reservations arrived only to be told the hotel was full, but I thought there had to be more to the story. Lo and behold, a group of six of us had reservations at the Newport Beachside for March 27-29, 2009 to celebrate a 40th birthday. We arrived at the hotel to learn that it was full and that we were being sent to another hotel. Apparently, the word reservation has a different meaning to the Newport Beachside than it has to the rest of the world. We were told we would be refunded for the cost of the hotel. The Newport Beachside sent us to the Westin Diplomat, which was wonderful, but which was much further away from Miami and South Beach, where we wanted to visit. Also, the Westin was a more expensive property, and we ended up paying a lot more for food and beverage (and taxis to Miami) than we would have. Now comes the salt in the wound - as if it wasn't inconvenient enough to arrive at the hotel only to be sent away, I had to spend about 20 phone hours to get the refund I was promised. The front desk manager, Matthew (sp?), is not pleasant to deal with, to say the least. If you're willing to risk not getting a room here, then by all means, book with this hotel.
