This was our 5th stay in this hotel - the second time since it became a Days Inn (before it was Best Western). The frequency alone should say something about the quality :)

We had a comfortable room with kitchenette on the 4th (or 3rd?) floor, at a corner facing the neighbouring hotels and beach (not the pool). The hotel is reasonably quiet, the staff is great and the location is also great - Publix across the street, Aventura mall 10-15 minutes away by car.

Read my other reviews of this hotel, all points remain valid.
It's a pleasant, smaller hotel with character. One of only a few in an area increasingly filled with towering 'modern' hotels.

We didn't expect too much from the hotel. When we walked into the lobby it looked fabulous and new and like in a Hyatt lobby. After using the elevator we arrived in the real hotel, it was really kind of a complete different world. Old, run down area. The room wasn't cleaned properly, hair and stains. The rooms really need a make over with some fresh nice colors and maintance.
Parking is available opposite of the hotel at $8 which was a fair price.
Will return to Miami Beach but stay somewhere else.

This hotel was fantastic, after reading mixed reviews, I was expecting the Thunderbird Beach Resort to be a dump, but when we arrived, we were so pleased, the staff were great and so friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is large, with a fantastic pool area and walk way to the beach, where you can rent two deck chairs per room free of charge by the pool or on the beach and the pool guy will trail them onto the sand for you and provide you with towels.

Our room was large and we had our own balcony and fridge in our room which was so handy. The rooms were cleaned and maids were always going about every morning cleaning the rooms and hallway. There is a hair dresses and car hire rental department also inside the hotel and the hotel has a car park too. Taxis to and from the airport/cruise terminals are very expensive $52. We only spent 3 nights here as we experienced South Beach for our first week which was alot more lively.

Restaurant/cafe was great for breakfast, we never ate dinner here as we walked down the road to a few recommended restaurants to try for ourselves. Theres a supermarket right across the road and a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you to and from Aventura Mall, where we spent THE WHOLE DAY shopping, this Mall is amazing!!!

Myself and my partner had a great end to our holiday vaction here and I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends and family.

I agree with most of the reviewers on this site. This hotel was way more than what you would expect for $80 a night on the beach in the Trump Towers area of Sunny Isles, Florida. The location is perfect w/ fast food and a grocery store across the street.
We had the same view from our balcony that they have at the Trump towers. Even better since the highrise beaches are in their own shade in the afternoon and evening.
Days Thunderbird is one of the few remaining low rise motels in the area. It was clean and well landscaped. Had everything you need in a motel. We had a little problem with the "pool staff" who would not rent us a beach umbrella because he said it was too windy. Every resort up and down the beach had umbrellas on the beach. We did get beach loungers that you usually have to rent at other places. They did not charge us the $8 per day resort fee. Not sure if that was because they would not rent us umbrellas or not. They did charge us the $8 per day parking fee.
We had a little confusion about our reservation that only took ten minutes to clear up w/ the site we booked on. However, the hotel gave us a kitchenette I don't think we paid extra for to make up for it.
Be careful if you are on the patios above the restaurant. There are steps and there is very little lighting. My friend fell but luckily was not injured.
We had two tables and a desk in our room and a table w/ chairs on the patio. It was clean but dated. Really dated. Was just what we were looking for. Looked like a nice pool but we were there for the beach.

Very nice location, just in front of the beach. Fantastic pool area with jacuzzi opened till 10 p.m.- only bad thing about this area is the pool staff - with towels - closed at 5 p.m.!!! If you want to take a swim later, be sure to get your towel prior to 5, otherwise you might get cold!!!
We were a bit surprised with extra fees: to a better breakfast, to use umbrellas in the beach and to use the resort area (daily fee). No parking lot included ( another extra fee)!!!
We were unsatisfied with the noise late at night. They were having shows in the hotels restaurant till 12.am!!!

We booked through virgin holidays for a 2 week well earned holiday, upgrading to a superior room, well we earned it, on arrival we were shown to our room, it was so small, and contained 2 single beds, not doubles or king as stated, and the view of the ocean that we paid extra for turned out to be a view ofthe carpark, we explained to the unhelpful person at the desk and was told that we were in the room that we had booked, we explained we booked a superior room, and was told that this was not possible as upgrades can only be done direct with the hotel, not the travel company, we decided to stay till in the morning until our rep arrived. Once they saw the room we had been given as there were no other rooms free they moved us to another hotel, I believe the room that we were given was not a room for guests at all, the staff were unhelpful, and we were told that they must have double booked our original room and put us elsewhere hoping we would not say anything, dont get me wrong it was clean just not what we had paid for or big enough to swing a cat in,

We have just returned from staying at this hotel for 3 nights. It is in a great location, nice pool, lovely beach. Rooms very basic, bathrooms could do with an upgrade, but our major complaint was how thin the walls were in our room. We could hear the family next door, preparing food, bashing plates, talking and also had to put up with their screaming toddler, who cried the minute the door shut behind them and went on for over an hour each evening. We knocked on the walls in the end and could easily hold a conversation with them. It was like the walls were made of cardboard. Bad start to a good overall holiday. No particular comment on Staff - they said very little to us during the whole stay.
