“Great Family Vacation Spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

It was our first time on a full family vacation and the hotel was not only very helpful (we had 4 kids 18 months, 10, 13, and 14) but they very accomodating! The town itself is very safe, and the kids were able to explore a little bit without too much worry. The hotel was clean , and we came back to our clean towels folded in a new fancy way every day! They are great at setting up excursions and they do have childcare, but it is for 4 years and up. The buffet wasn't anything fancy, but the smaller restaurants and special occasion meals were great! They didn't have much for allergy sensitive eaters, but the options were many so it wasn't too bad. There was security everywhere, including the beach so you feel safe. They have lifeguards on duty everywhere for kids at the pools and beach. Beach is gorgeous, and 80% of the staff speak very good english. Had a great time and everyone in the family said they would return!

Room Tip: There are 2 different areas for travellers - they have an adults only area and also a family area.

Fantastic, friendly staff.
Buffets can be repetitious but that can be said anywhere you go to a buffet.
Enjoyed the nightly shows, entertainment staff have energy all day long to ensure guests are enjoying themselves.
Easy to go on excursions from resort and walking distance to La Penita where there is a great weekly market.

Room Tip: Choose ocean side as closer to all the activity and the unit on other side of street has too many st...

I loved this resort. However we where first timers for a tropical vacation and dont have anything to campare too. The buffets where great. Breakfast was pretty much the same everyday so that got old about day 4, but was still good. Fresh fruits, yummy pastries and choose your own omelet. The grand buffet had a different theme every evening. We saw italian night, fishermans night, asian night, and mexican night. The other nights we ate off resort. The snack bar was nice to have. Burgers, fries, hotdogs. Food was over at 930 everynight so we went tk the oxxo convenience store before bed for snacks. The bar staff was very good at keeping everyones drinks topped up! We brought bubba mugs for our refills seeing as they keep the drinks cold for hours and the resort plastic cups are fairly small and if you dont drink quickly gets warm. The bar by the disco was open till 3 everynight.

We stayed in cocos building 4. Our room was very basic. King Bed, tv, small table and chairs, dresser, closet, two night stands with lamps, stand up shower, small safe and air conditioner. The cleaning staff where very friendly. Our room faced into one of the kid friendly pools so unless you where exhausted the idea of an air conditioned afternoom nap was out of the question. Lol! It would have been nice if the adult pool stayed open later then 6pm.

The beach was beautiful with lots of chairs to choose from. But you had to be on the ball to get under an umbrella. Lots of vendors! But very kind and not pushy. No gracias was all it took :)

Vincent was very helpful in answering questions we had about the town. And I loved Samuel! He was so energetic and funny!

One suggestion: do not get henna tattoos! I got one and it rubbed off on the sheets and we where charged 85$ for them. Not a great way to end the trip! However the staff was very kind.

The tours to Sayulita where fantastic!
Offer ziplining, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling. Layer on the sunblock!

Sucurity at night was very good. I felt very safe while walking back to my room.

All in all it was a great place to stay. Sun ,sand and cervaza? Really how can you complain :)

Back last night- with a group and we've been there before-the food quality really dropped and I would say the worst I've been to- staff still awesome Juan Carlos makes your day in the morning breakfast with his humour he was a breath of fresh air - as well as Lolita in the La Bamba - but the steaks at night were awful- the beach was great and the water was warmer than the pool- we stayed in cocos 4 in the large end suite and it was amazing and the cocos 4 pools great hangout for the regulars- the beach club was excellent with great service- the town was great and we found Wanda's Flaming Burgers - a must must must do- three blocks north of the road in front of cocos1 - everyone in our party said the best burgers and fries and ribs they have ever had- met the owners great people and awesome service from Michelle- you have to do it- it was a ok week and the price made it great- but since our last visit 4 yrs ago we've been to 10 resorts and though people go back and back and our friends for 8-14 yrs- if they left they would see better value and resorts- it's a solid three star with a 4 star staff - but due to the food quality and lack of ala cartes we won't be back - we paid 489.00 for the week and we've been three times to other resorts this winter and went because of the price and have decided the price is great but you can spent three hundred more and get so much more- but after all is said and done it's a place you should go to once because of the local Culture as your right in a town

Went Feb 28/14 to Mar 14/14 was a little worried about being their at spring break due to bad experience in Cabo. This is a smaller resort in a small fishing village, not a spring breaker to be seen, might be to quite and away from the action for them. I can't say enough great things about this resort. Lucy at Glacier Travel handled everything for us,we traveled Air Transat which is always great, complementry champagne, orange juice or mimosa in the morning, complementary wine for lunch and dinner, where do you get that on a flight anymore! Nice air conditioned bus to resort, seemed like a very quick hour, met by the Air Transat rep Vincent, a Canadian, he was super helpful. We didn't know we should have brought Canadian money or Pesos's, he changed our American money when we needed it.

We stayed on the 3rd floor of building 1, it was only building with elevator which we only used a couple times. Big room, huge shower, cute balcony over kitchen, could see the bay and watch locals behind us. I wouldn't want to stay in any other building. Didn't find it noisy at all

The palapas were always taken, I didn't go on vacation to get up early to get a beach chair. There was always ones around the pool, few steps for a swim in the ocean. The beach was great the pool was nice, all three of them. When it got crowded we headed up to the adult pool at unit 4, few steps to great buffett.

Food was great, there was so much to choose from, one dish tasted better than the next. La Bamba was delicious for lunch and dinner, never made it up there for breakfast.

The bar past La Canoa was the best, it was quieter and the bar tender was fantastic, friendly could make anything and even went to the buffett to get limes for my husband. The other bar I found didn't make very good drinks and they were not very friendly.

We bought air beds as the lounges were quite hard and the guys where we picked up the beach towels were great blew them up, had some leaks and brought them back the next day they didn't seem to mind.

We always tip,not just the waiters and bar staff, they all work so hard, are friendly and so willing to help and get paid so little how can you not!!!

Walked down to Wanda's Burgers twice the ribs were the best I've had and the burger was delicious, a must for any trip. There were others we wanted to tried but didn't get around to it. The very best tortilla soup I've ever had, I could of lived on it with chunks of avacado, mmmm

Met people that had been going for 9 and 14 years, it has to be great.

Yes it's an older hotel but well maintained and so clean, right on the beach in a village on the bay doesn't get any better. Went to beach club a couple times another great beach walked for ever on it, wandered the village not as nice as Guayabitos but fun.

Will definetly will go back next year, met some nice people that go the same time and we'd like to meet up with them again.

You can trade pocket books at the towel stand nice to lighten my suitcase.

Vendors at night are not pushy had beautiful stuff. Long walk to market on Monday's if you have mobility issues take a taxi. fun wandering around. Thursday's bigger market in La Penita, $3.00 for a cab and it was new! I'm a shopaholic so this was wonderful for me.

Never stayed in a 5 star but the staff and location made it a 5 star in my books.

Room Tip: Unit 1 is closest to beach and has an elevator the higher up the quieter, air conditioner worked gre...

The place is super clean and staff is very helpful and friendly. Beach is very nice. They have fun shows each evening. You don’t feel as though you are in a walled in resort, but more a part of the town. Good security and felt safe even walking around town after dark. The activity team has endless energy and very creative activities. We liked the fact that there were also lots of Mexican families not just Canadian tourists. The resort is located a little over an hour out of PV, but unless your goal is to party in the clubs its not an issue, as there is lots to do and see in Guayabitos and they have nice air conditioned busses to get you to and from the airport.
