This is our 2nd stay at the hotel and will not be our last. I have been visiting this amazing part of Wales since 1994 and love it. The hotel staff are all friendly and polite and the room was great, we stayed in a lake view again and would do the same next time. The spa was very good as was the restaurant. The Tower Bar has window seats but you have to book in advance for one of those seats, so make sure you remember before you go and sit where you shouldnt. All in all a very pleasant stay and a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: Lake view are worth the extra charge.

We arrived at the hotel after travelling the last 10 miles through pretty dense fog on narrow roads. Very relieved to arrive and start our Friday night stay. It was excellent and indeed the following day we did have a view of the Lake from our balcony.
The room was fine and we had a truly super evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant where the standard of service and the food was first class.
We intend to return again , probably for 2 nights to explore the Lake more fully as there are a number of interesting walks and opportunities too observe wildlife. If you get a chance also visit the cafe just up the road where the farmer's wife makes you very welcome and serves some great tea and cake !
Our only minor gripe was that our friends were pretty late arriving from Manchester in the fog and we had to actually get their champagne and chocolates before 6.00 pm as apparently the ''offer'' was only available between 3.00 amd 6.00... somewhat surprising as the weather was truly appalling that day.
Notwithstanding that minor gripe everyone enjoyed their stay at this really nice country style hotel.

Room Tip: Lakeside views whilst a supplement are vwell worth it.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this beautiful hotel. Although a little strange to get to in the dark following the sat nav it was well worth it when we arrived. We were given a very warm welcome by the reception staff. We stayed in room 23 which was just lovely and had a wonderful view of the lake. The staff were fabulous and the food in the restaurant was delicious and beautifully presented. We enjoyed watching Wales win in the Tower Tavern, where drinks, we thought were reasonably priced. The food looked nice here, but we didn't sample as we ate both nights in the restaurant. A real special treat which we thoroughly enjoyed. Why this hotel doesn't have 5 stars I don't know? The staff ensure you are really looked after during your stay and that includes the house keeping who even come in to turn your bed down in the evening. A fabulous experience.

This was a trip purchased with travelzoo which included an overnight stay, breakfast, 5 course dinner plus coffee, champagne and truffles (yum!). There are similar offers running at the moment with a different company (the hotel can provide details of current offers). We upgraded for an extra £25 to a premier lake view room complete with balcony. These are beautiful rooms and the couple we travelled with even had a four poster bed (Room 45). My husband and friend did the clay pigeon shooting and enjoyed that. It is normally £40 but we had a 25% off voucher as part of the package deal. We also had a wonderful champagne afternoon tea on the second day sitting in the drawing room overlooking the lake. We didnt have chance to use the spa (this was an extra charge at £10 per day per person). We did have lunch in the Inn which is attached - this was fast and plentful but I wasnt too keen on the ambience in there - it was a bit school canteenish rather than traditional pub! I would stick to the main hotel - they serve sandwiches in the lounge and the bar seemed to be open most of the time. The breakfast was also nice with a choice of hot dishes cooked to order. There are beautiful walks on the doorstep - head into the little village on the other side of the dam to the RSPB hide - it was lovely to watch all the birds on the birdfeeders. We also drove along the lake and towards the top we stopped and walked to some waterfalls (they were beautiful even when frozen. It would be a stunning place to have a picnic (the hotel can supply these) sitting alongside the brook just a skip away from the parking area. I will be back but for longer next time.

Room Tip: If you can run to it - choose a premier lake view room. These are the furthest walk away however fro...

We booked on Travel Zoo offer having stayed at the hotel approximately 12 years ago. The original room was rather small despite having opted to pay extra for lake view. However the receptionist was very helpfull and was able to to find a larger room with queensize bed with which we were very satisfied. Food was imaginative, the soup starter served with freshly baked bread was very memorable, as was the breakfast in the morning, all served with a smile. The bed was very comfortable with cotton sheets and feather pillows and the bathroom was newly renovated with lovely fluffy bath towels.Beware of sloping ceilings on the second floor especially if you are above average height as you may bang your head getting out of the bath! The wine list was extensive offering a good range of prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return.

Room Tip: Lake view is worth paying for, view is exceptional

We planned a weekend break to Lake Vyrnwy. On our way there on Friday a massive snowfall made it impossible to make it and we had to stay in a nearby town. We eventually made it there on Saturday morning and the snow made the setting even more stunning. We stayed in a lake view room with a balcony that was very spacious. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and good value. The spa is quite small and I'd find it hard to spend a whole day in there but what is there is good and someone said it's supposed to have the best view from a spa in the uk which is very possible. When we checked out we realised they hadn't charged us for the Friday night we couldn't get there and we didn't even have to ask so finished off a great stay in a good way.

Just returned from my third, but definitely not last, stay at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel. Lovely comfortable lounge, bar and restaurant, and spa. Excellent meals including buffet breakfast (great choice of cold and hot items), cream tea and 5 course evening meal. Meals in adjacent Tower pub also excellent . The hotel has fantastic views across the lake. We could lie in bed and watch the sunrise over the lake.Bathroom very spacious with deep bath and lovely power shower, nice selection of shower products. Good choice of cofffee, teas and chocolate in room. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. If all that wasn't enough, there are mountains and valleys in every direction to explore on foot or by car. Very relaxing break.

Room Tip: The additional cost for a lake view ir definitely worth it, although you can also enjoy the view fro...
