Joy and I had two very special nights in late April at this excellent B&B, set in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains amidst hills and woods: deeply tranquil with the only sounds the call of birds and the wind in the trees. Maya and John gave us the warmest and friendliest of welcomes without in any way being intrusive. Our twin-bedded room was en suite and tastefully comfortable in every way. Bron y Llys is a sturdy mid Victorian house that has been beautifully enhanced with great attention to design and muted colours. The dining room is a delight with windows on three sides, catching the morning and evening sun. Maya's cooking is exemplary with its creativity and flavouring, using locally sourced foods and is beautifully presented. As well as first-rate breakfasts we enjoyed two lovely, candlelit evening meals. Local delights include the Kite Feeding Centre at Rhayader, the glorious views of Cader Idris from the mountain road to Machynlleth, the site of nesting Ospreys at Ynys-hir reserve and the coast at Aberdovey. We thoroughly recommend Bron y Llys: the best of B&Bs!
