Stayed in the Carpenters Arms in October, as was attending a wedding in Broadway Country House. It's walking distance, but not safe to walk along the carriageway at night.
Booked several rooms in advance without any problems. Arrived on the day, welcomed by the manager who guided us to our room. The rooms are above & behind the pub itself. The rooms have obviously undergone a recent facelift, and were clean & tidy. Fresh towel bundle & the usual tea/coffee facilities. We had a room which had disabled shower facilities, which we didn't need, but would be useful for elderly/disabled guests.
As we stayed over on a Saturday night, there were limited breakfast hours - 08:00 - 09:00am, due to the pub needing to get ready for Sunday dinners. We needed to get up & out early anyway, but a bit early for those who may want a Sunday lie in. Breakfast was great, with hot & cold selection available & cooked fresh.
As it was an all day wedding, we didn't actually see the pub open.
Slight down points:
1. The room we had was based in the corner of the building, and so the bathroom had a sloping roof. I'm 6'3, and found it very small, particularly around the toilet.
2. Walls seem quite thin. Could hear every toilets flushing throughout the night.
They are only 2 minor points, and that's what knocked it to 4 out of 5.
If we didn't have to go home the following day, I would have been happy to spend another night there, sightseeing during the day & residing in the bar at night.
