We just spent a week in the wonderful alacheeg. It was our first trip to Larkhill and what a wonderful time we had. The tent was gorgeous. Tent is such a misdescription - this was more of a tented palace, with wooden floor, wood burning stove, comfortable beds, sofa & kitchen area and a gorgeous view of miles of Welsh countryside.
Our kids, aged 8 & 4 had a marvelous time. Each of the 5 tents on this site had a family in them and the children (and adults) got on swimmingly. Several parents commented that on day trips out the kids just wanted to be back at the camp to play with their new found friends. It was great to see the children playing freely around the site. Its such a safe place for them and they just loved playing in the little park or running around the site with the others. The kids went wild when they were joined by Larkhills hand-reared turkey - Rebecca - who just loved to run with them. One of my most precious lasting memories will be 7 young kids & 1 turkey racing down towards the labyrinth with the turkey in 5th position.
The whole holiday was a joy, topped off with everyone gathering around the communal campfire on the final evening to toast marshmallows, pop some corn, share stories and take in the clearest view of the stars unaffected by light pollution.
Fran & Tony are lovely hosts and make you very welcome. They have created a lovely, family friendly place to enjoy. We will definitely be going back.
