“Wonderful Cooking, Wonderful Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

This is a great B and B in off-the-beaten-track Wales. Betty is a terrific cook, who prepares excellent breakfasts and evening meals upon request. Sion, who tends bar, has a lively personality and creates a warm atmosphere in which guests are provided the opportunity to mix and mingle with locals. Much recommended. The B and B is on the main road, so you will hear some sounds of cars going by.

Lovely atmosphere where locals and guests are all treated extremely well, it seems that most guests are regulars, some on holiday and some on business. The character building and the friendly staff create a very warm welcome and totally relaxing environment, and the prices are sensible. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would love to plan a return trip.

Ardderchog [Excellent],
Bet was a fantastic and welcoming hostess.Breakfasts were hearty with lots of tea and coffee provided set you up for the day.We stayed in the cottage which was light, airy and well equipped. Excellent shower in ground floor wet room and underfloor heating was a bonus.
We met up with extended family for a birthday celebration and the meal was delicious-did panic when the lights went out but this was only for the candle lit cake that was provided for us!
We would certainly recommend staying at the Afon Duad.

Very cosy and welcoming pub and B&B with excellent food. The rooms are old fashioned and a bit small but very clean and comfortable. Both English and Welsh are spoken.

We had booked and confirmed a twin room at the Afonduad Inn near Carmarthen for one night. We had travelled from Ffos Las racecourse where we had worked that day (Saturday) and were due to work on the Sunday aswell. We had travelled from Somerset and thought we were goiing to have a quiet, relaxing evening in a nice country pub. We had even reserved a table there for our evening meal. To our dismay, upon arrival we were greeted with a rather shifty, obviously unbothered landlady, who informed us, our room was still occupied by the resident from the previous night, who had 'apparently fallen ill and could not leave the room'. No apology, and then to top it all, an outright lie, claiming she had phoned us at 10am that morning to warn us !! No call was received (or made I am sure). Double booking is a dispicable practice and potential customers should be aware of this and avoid business's such as the Afonduad Inn which have no conscience.
