“Perfect in every way!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

We recently spent 4 enchanting nights at Ramsey House. From the first moment we arrived until the moment we left we had exceptionally attentive, but not obtrusive, care from Suzanne and Shaun. This level of care actually started long before we arrived when Suzanne graciously went above and beyond in answering questions about the area when I was planning the trip. The room (Jasmine) was very, very comfortable, with nice down duvets and lots of little extras including robes, chocolate by the bedside and lovely soaps etc. Everything was spotlessly clean. Shower was great with lots of hot water. The lounge was very comfortable and was a great place to curl up and read in the afternoon after a walk. The rooms are very quiet too. It was full when we were there and if we hadn't seen the guests for breakfast we might have thought we were alone. We did 2 long walks right from the door; one to Porth Clais and then east to Solva and then to Newgale. Beautiful scenery and we had good weather with no rain that made it even better. The next day we went to Skomer Island and had a great day fueled by the great packed breakfast that Shaun did up for us because we needed such an early start. The final hiking day we also did as a circle right from the house on Suzanne's recommendation and it was the best day yet. We went to Porth Clais again but then went the opposite way to Whitesands and then circled back into St Davids and finished it off with the Bishop's Place and the cathedral. Perfect day great scenery, perfect sunny day and all wrapped up with a really well presented tour round the palace. Suzanne is a great ambassador for the area and we enjoyed the conversations and the suggestions she made.
We ate 3 nights at Ramsey House and every aspect of every meal was amazing , not only taste but also presentation. Shaun obviously loves to cook and does a fantastic job. It was like having your own personal Michelin 3 star chef to cook for you each night. We had a lovely corn fed chicken breast with roasted mushrooms and asparagus, really amazing roast duck breast with a lovely reduction sauce and peaches served over spiced red cabbage, and hake served with a lemon mustard cream sauce. Starters were equally amazing and included an amazing fresh pea and ham soup, carrot and roast fennel soup, a duck salad that looked too good to eat and a goat cheese with quince jelly and preserved fruit salad. My husband raved about the chocolates dessert plate and my favorite of all the evenings was a blood orange sorbet served in a golden cage of spun sugar. Writing this is making me hungry. Shaun and Suzanne have a lovely place that they should be proud of and they compliment each others skills to present a truly perfect holiday package. If we are ever back in St Davids I would not even consider eating or staying anywhere else !!!

We stayed at Ramsey House for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend - and we can truly say that the B&B was amazing and faultless. Suzanne and Shaun made us feel welcome every minute of our stay, our room was perfect with an incredible view across the peninsula and breakfast every morning was outstanding - I think we tried every cooked option between us! Suzanne and Shaun were always available for advice on where to go and what to do - staying in St David's will truly be one of our most memorable holidays.

Just spent a fab weekend at Ramsay House - this B&B is in a perfect location away from the hustle & bustle of the city centre but within walking distance of the cathedral, shops and eateries. A warm welcome from hosts Shaun & Suzanne, room was excellent (Magenta) complete with those added extras that make a stay more comfortable (dressing gowns, L'occataine toiletries, tea & coffee making facilities). The breakfast was superb and I can heartily recommend the cockle laverbread beautiful and Shaun never failed to turn out the perfect poached egg.....! Ideally located for walking the coastal path - we recommend Portclais to White sands a good 7 mile trek but worth the effort, beautiful views and the gorse and flowers were spectacular. We were lucky this weekend with the weather but this only enhanced a perfect stay in St Davids. Hope to be back later in the year.

We stayed at Ramsey House for two nights. We received a warm welcome from Shaun and Suzanne, with tea and delicious Welsh cakes. Everything here has been done with the greatest eye for detail, and nothing is too much trouble. Our room, Aquamarine, was beautifully furnished and decorated with Suzanne's flair, with gorgeous organic smellies in the shower room, and even a dish of hand made chocolate buttons, which strangely did not last long.

The centre of St David's is a short walk away, but please do not go out and miss one of Shaun's amazing three course evening meals. Each course has a "wow" factor, and anyone who goes to the trouble of sourcing fennel pollen to give a subtle aroma and golden dusting to his superb Hake dish, has got to be passionate about the food he prepares. Shaun makes his own delicious bread rolls, and also the bread for toast at breakfast. His sticky toffee pudding is as light as a feather and simply not to be missed. Coffee in the comfortable lounge came with home made petit fours, and the grappa truffle was a big hit!
Breakfast was of the same high standard, with cereals, juices, local farm yoghurts, fresh fruit and of course Shaun's cooked breakfasts. The Penclawdd cockles and laver bread oatcake with poached egg was very special, and the poached duck eggs on toasted brioche with truffle butter was splendid. There is of course the traditional "Full Pembrokeshire" too. Suzanne ensured that we had a plentiful supply of coffee, and were fully fuelled for our walk. We bought jars of Ramsey House home made marmalade and jam to take home so we could extend our enjoyable experience. Shaun and Suzanne have created an absolute gem.

Room Tip: Aquamarine has views across fields to the sea, and there are ground floor rooms available too.

I recently stayed in this fabulous hotel for the weekend. One word.....perfect! The room (211), the views, the breakfast, the bed, and mostly the staff! I slept blissfully on the bed, I am usually rather fussy about bedding/pillows but this was fantastic. I loved every minute of my stay and will 100% be returning! Thank you to all who helped give me a great stay!

Room Tip: My comments are based on room 211, I can not fault it, it was simply perfect!

We arrived for the first time in St David's the city was beautiful and the welcome at Ramsey house was equally wonderful. Suzanne and Shaun were the perfect hosts their hospitality was so welcoming the tea and welsh cake on arrival was delightful as was the surroundings. The rooms were tastefully decorated to a high standard everything very fresh and clean and the most comfortable bed. Shaun's breakfast were far more than we have experienced at any bed and breakfast both in presentation and taste. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for close proximity to St David's just 5minute walk to town and the fantastic cathedral, but most of all the hospitality of Suzanne and Shaun made our stay memorable and a experience we want to repeat.
Thank you
Elaine and Paul Walsall

Room Tip: The bed and breakfast had ground rooms for easy access for disabled.

We stayed at Ramsey House with another couple from the States in April 2013. It was fantastic. Suzanne and Shaun are the best hosts in any Bed and Breakfast that we have visited. The food was excellent, the best breakfast, and Shaun cooked dinner for us one night that was outstanding.
