“A memorable evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

This is a great place to have a meal when visiting St Davids, likely to be shared with the locals. The menu has a broad range of options, prepared with skill and guaranteed to remove hunger. The setting is a cosy, authentic hotel in a Welsh village. Grab one of the board games - Scrabble was never more fun.

“Tradition and excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

The Bishops is in the centre of St Davids and, when I have visited seems to be one of the centres of city life ( the smallest city in the UK)!! The staff could not have done more to extend a friendly welcome, the drinks were varied, some local and well priced. The food was the best I have had in a pub for a long time, the portions exceptionally generous, well presented and delicious!!

“Cosy Friendly Pub/Restuarant With Great Food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Visited here on sunday and am very impressed. The staff were very friendly, the pub was very cosy and kept the decor of the period(don't like old buildings that are made ultra modern inside). The food was very good with really good portions,I Had one of the specials which was pan fried hake fresh veg and it was gorgeous,my husband had the beer batter fish+chips with mushy peas and this was a large meal and really good. The pub is open all day which is a bonus as many close after 2pm.There is a good selection of meals from light bites to main meals or sandwiches and there was also a sunday roast. The specials of the day are advertised on a tv screen.I Was also impressed by the relaxed atmosphere. There are lovely views of the cathederal and the mountains in the distance. We will certainly eat here again and I Highly recommend this venue.

“Warm and Cosy setting for a great pub lunch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

What a fab Sunday lunch! We arrived at the Bishops, drenched from the rain and rather hungry having foregone breakfast in anticipation of a bounteous pub lunch. We were not disappointed.

Once inside you are met with a bustling pub that sprawls over a couple of levels, the tables have been given characterful names and there is a sense of relaxed humour about the place. We had reserved a table and were delighted to find it right by the roaring fire, our dog was pretty pleased too and settled down for a warm snooze almost immediately. On a Sunday a roast is offered and this week it was Lamb with stuffing and Yorkshires. The person in our group to order the roast was really delighted with her choice, the portion size was certainly generous with a great selection of vegetables on the side. Other members of the group had the Steak and Ale pie of the day and Lambs Kidney, all were really happy with their choices and were certainly full up afterwards!

I was the token vegetarian of the group and I admit, I was slightly worried having had a poor meal at the sister pub The Sloop Inn in Porthgain the night before. Well I didn’t need to be at all worried, my perfectly cooked linguine with mushroom and cream sauce was absolutely delicious. It had the perfect amount of truffle oil, enough to flavour the dish but not so much that it over-powered it and the crunchy topping of vegetable crisps was a fantastic touch, all in all a great option for a pub lunch.

Oh and if you go, be sure to order a side of Beer Battered onion rings to munch on, so good that the five of us ordered two more bowls on top of the first one. Hugely greedy I know, but they were fantastic!

“Everything I need in a pub.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

Good simple pub food, lovely helpful and friendly staff, warm cosy atmosphere and dog friendly. I'm here at least once a month and it's becoming our family favourite. No visit to St David's is complete without an evening at The Bishops.
