“Birthday treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We spent a night here to celebrate my husbands birthday and had the most fantastic time. The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpfull, you felt nothing was too much trouble for them. We particularly enjoyed the contribution James made to the whole evening. The food was very tasty and the chef had prepared something special to accommodate my allergies. Well done to the whole staff for a really lovely night.

Room Tip: We were in room 23 with the most fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

This place is rapidly becoming a regular haunt for me. Wonderful service, lovely rooms, a brisk walk in the morning around some lovely scenery. It was especially good this time. I'm sure I've given this hotel a great review before so I won't go into it too deply. Of relevance may be that we were a party of three male adults, one of whom didn't even get up for the perfectly cooked breakfast on either morning. More fool him as we tucked into a Bloody Mary with our bacon and haddock.
If you are in Lampeter on business or pleasure, it's well worth a visit if only for a meal, but I would recommend staying here above all.

We've stayed a few times at the Falcondale. It is always a comfortable and welcoming experience. The hotel itself is a grand old building full of charm. The staff, though not old, are also full of charm. You will not find a hotel which is more welcoming to it's guests. It's so good we've already booked our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the driveway have a grand view down a green and pleasant valley.

Friendly staff who gave a good welcome and were helpful. I was staying in a small double, the lowest grade, so didn't expect extreme luxury but had expected more than I got. The room was cold and the bathroom even more so. It was noisy as well, both from downstairs and from the room next door. I could hear every time the people in the room next to me talked, used the bathroom, walked around. I was given an extra blanket and offered a heater after I told reception I was cold. Tea and coffee facilities were inadequate with just a couple of small cups of long life milk and no biscuits. For £100 I expected a bit more.

We are also disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us here at The Falcondale. You booked a small double room for one person for the one night. We apologise that you felt the room was noisy, it seems that being located in a quiet area sometimes accentuates all sounds that you may then hear.

Extra heaters and blankets are always available on request. The tea/coffee tray has cafetiere's for quality coffee and a teapot with fresh milk available for reception when required.

Its a shame that we were not able to meet your expectations on this occasion, but hope that if you were to return (now having noted your requirements) we will be able to exceed them.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in room 11, which is a best room category. The hotel is situated in it's own grounds with beautiful views. Dogs are welcome in this hotel so we took our two Border Collies. On arrival we had waiting in the room dog bowls, blankets and biscuit treats. The main reason for booking this holiday was the dog friendly aspect. We were not disappointed in this respect. The dogs were allowed in the bar and we ate in the conservatory where they were also allowed. There is a dog trainer available if booked in advance. She met us at the hotel on both days and we were really impressed with the advice and training she gave. We came home with much better behaved dogs. There is enclosed gardens where it was safe to play ball games with the dogs and lots of lovely walks too. The room had lovely views. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a flat screen TV with freeview channels and free Wi Fi internet. We ate breakfast and evening meals at the hotel. The food was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel advertises a stay one night and get the second night free in November. We thought this was a brilliant reason to stay 2 nights. However on checking out we found that we were charged full price for both nights.

Room Tip: We only stayed in the one room so can't compare. However, there were some rooms with a balcony a...

Thank you very much for your review. Sue runs "Lampeter and district dog training", and holds events at the hotel for those attending her classes. As you found out she can also provide intense training days for dogs and their owners when staying at the hotel.

We hope that we may be able to welcome yourself (and your two dogs) back again.

Lovely hotel in a great location, food was exceptional and the staff were brilliant, although the room was very spacious and clean, for the cost of the room in comparison with other hotels that I have stayed in, it could do with a refurbishment (which I understand is being done) and the bed wasn't the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on. (although I am quite a large bloke).

But overall I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.
