“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

We found this hotel clean, comfortable and friendly. A busy place with lots going on Friday and Saturday nights so those nights a little noisy, but it didn't bother us. Sam, one of the barmen/waiters was really kind and looked after us well. Nice chap. The staff all smiley and ready to help especially the native Anglesey girl who served us breakfast. Would have liked someone to carry my bags upstairs, they were a bit heavy, but we managed and I am sure if we had asked there would have been someone to help.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are better away from the kitchens at the back. Double room overlooking the garde...

Cross the historic Thomas Telford-designed Menai Suspension bridge onto Anglesey and one of the first things you will see is this hotel. I stayed here for one night on business and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are really nicely designed (I understand they were refurbished a couple of years ago and it shows). There are well-judged touches of contemporary Welsh design, such as the fact that the bed-throws and pillows are covered in fabrics from stylish Welsh fabric company Melin Tregwynt. Food-wise I enjoyed a good quality evening meal with staff that were very attentive and keen to please. Breakfast was of equal quality.
Although the hotel is on Anglesey I'd say that if you need to stay in the Bangor area, stay here rather than in Bangor. I walked from Bangor Railway Station and it took about 20 minutes. (Use Google Maps to look for the cut-through along Covent Lane). You then get to walk across the magnificent Menai Bridge. There are plenty of taxis if you don't want to walk though!

Stayed to attend a nearby wedding. Situated in a beautiful area near both mountains and sea, conveniently located next to a waitrose, the Anglesey Arms was the perfect location. On entering we were greeted by friendly staff and were checked in by Sue who went out of her way to see if the room was ready as we arrived early. We sat and had a pleasant drink in the most comfortable, warm and immaculate setting.

We only had 5 minutes to wait before we were told our room was ready. Room 105, our room for the night was stunning, beautifully decorated and well kept. Big room with lots of space and a lovely bathroom to boot!

As our room was above the bar and it was a Saturday night, it was quite noisy but it quieted somewhat by about half eleven. Other than that it was a most comfortable nights sleep. Recommended staying the floor above if you're going to bed early at the weekend.

Greeted at breakfast by happy and friendly staff who were very efficient and just put the icing on the cake in terms of a perfect stay over. No complaints here! Will definitely stay again and see some of the local sights.

Stayed overnight Friday in May. Fantastic atmosphere, great food, fabulous room( stayed in bridal suite) so clean and fresh and exceeded our expectation with small touches which included fresh coffee. No trouble for staff to find us a table for dinner at short notice and food was lovely- hot and plenty of choice which was also the case at breakfast after a quiet comfortable nights sleep. Location was great for walks, traveling and free car park added to the great all round good value. would recommend this hotel to family and friends,,ssshhhh don't tell everyone!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Stayed for one night in April.

Pros: nice single room, bustling pub with good atmosphere, clean, friendly staff, excellent location, good parking, decent breakfast

Cons: mix up with bookings meant our party was divided between hotels, the bill was wrong (charged for food I did not eat), view of fire escape

Overall it was a decent visit but in this day and age, how can your bill be wrong by 50% ?

Firstly can I thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

We are all very sorry you experienced the issues from the internet booking you made with us.
I was under the impression that this was sorted out to your satisfaction prior to arrival.

I am also very sorry that another room had thier food bill allocated to your room on your checking out.
I am afriad this was human error and I am very happy that you checked your bill when it was presented to you to ensure it was correct.
The lady who prepared your bill expresses her apologies once again and we all hope that it will not detract from your staying with us again.
We also have an improved billing system arriving very soon to ensure that the manual aspect of the billing will be removed and the minimal number of mistakes we encounter erradicated.

Once again thank you for taking the time to review us.

We had an overnight stay at the Anglesey Arms and a very comfortable one at that. Service was very good. The (double) room was attractive, spacious and quiet. Minus point for the net curtains in the bathroom with a full view to the road though! We had dinner at the restaurant as the menu looked very promising, but whilst the ingredients were fresh and high quality, we found the portions a bit too small and a bit bland. The breakfast was a traditional fry-up, and a reasonably good one. I would recommend this hotel. It makes a good effort, is well-located, and the staff were great.
