“Thank you”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

Came across this by accident. A very happy accident I might add. This was our wedding anniversary trip for 2014. We have a caravan in Trearddur Bay on Holy Island. We got the last double room and from our early arrival until, our departure the service was impeccable. My wife suffers with coeliac disease and what a pleasant change the staff "can do" attitude is. Nothing was too much trouble. We had booked the 5 course dinner.. Our waiter brought canapés and immediately advised which were gluten free. No need to tell anyone we needed one lot of gluten free bread roll for dinner. At this point I am forgetting what a good dinner it was. Wine was excellent too as was breakfast the following morning. Cheap it is not but we will save up for another special day. Thank you

My husband and I stayed in this hotel in April 2014. I had booked on a groupon type deal for two nights including breakfast and full use of the spa. I had paid extra to upgrade to the four poster room.....wow!!!!!!!!! The hotel is located in beautiful surroundings in the anglesey countryside. The grounds are beautiful and have the most gorgeous sculptures, fountains and flowers etc. We were welcomed by very professional, courteous staff and taken to our room, up a grand staircase and into an absolutely amazing bedroom. The room was massive with a huge four poster bed and the best view of the gardens to the front of the building. The bathroom....biggest we've ever had and a jacuzzi bath big enough to fit a family of 6 in!!!!!! great for unwinding. lovely extras such as bottle of bubbly and some nice toiletries too. We ate in the main restaurant on the first night!!!!!!!!!!!! What can I say...food was out of this world and not expensive for what you got....thumbs up to the chef. We madeuse of the spa and gym the following day....great sized gym with everything you needed to work off the meal the evening before. Pool, great size and jacuzzi to boot...nice...the experience shower was amazing and the salt room was the best i'd ever been in...ice fountain to help your aches and pains too. We ate in the clock tower the second night...food great again. The one big plus of this hotel is their staff.....they are the most professional, courteous, nothing too much trouble, helpful that i've seen for a long time and they are a real credit to the hotel itself. I LOVED staying here and will definitely be back without a doubt.....

Room Tip: Try the four poster if you can, you won't be disappointed

My husband booked us a 3 night’s stay at the Tre-Ysgawen Hotel in April 2014 as a birthday treat. The hotel is located down a long drive in beautifully maintained gardens with lots of unusual sculptures and lovely to walk around. It is a traditional hotel with a spa and is elegant and comfortable. Check-in was fine and we were allocated Room 3 which was on the first floor and overlooked the gardens to the side of the hotel. The room was in the main building and reached by a grand staircase and off a large, elegant landing. It was a quiet room, light and airy, with high ceilings, traditional decor and had ample room for our bags, belongings, etc. The room had a large tv, tea/coffee making facilities, room safe and hairdryer. There was a bottle of complimentary mineral water and two apples left in the room each day. The bathroom had a shower over the bath with a choice of overhead or wall mounted shower heads. There was also a bidet. The bathroom was very light and airy with plenty room to put down your bits and pieces. There were nice thick bath towels plus towelling flannels (which you often don’t get these days) plus a reasonable selection of complimentary toiletries.
The hotel has a nice gym and a pool which my husband tried out but I didn’t.
A nice touch was a birthday card left in our room for on our arrival.
On our first night we ate in the Clock Tower restaurant. We had a nice meal there but I thought it was a bit expensive for what we had. The second night we ate in their main restaurant, the Noelle Restaurant. This was elegant, fine dining. We started off in the Noelle Bar with pre-dinner drinks and an ‘amuse-bouche’. Then we went in to the restaurant for a lovely meal with yet another ‘amuse-bouche’ and a sorbet in between courses. Afterwards we took coffee and petite fours in the comfortable library across the hall. This was not a cheap meal but was delicious and worth it. On our third night, as we had had a good Sunday lunch out that day, we had just a bar snack in the Noelle Bar that evening but this was perfect for what we wanted and very good value. They do nice chips! Breakfast was taken in the Britannia Room on our first morning and then in the Conservatory on the second and third morning. Each day there was a reasonable selection of cold buffet and cooked Welsh breakfast to order.
The staff throughout out stay were lovely and I would certainly stop here again if I were on Anglesey. My only criticism was that restaurant service was a bit slow on occasions but we were on holiday so did not mind too much.

Thanks for the review and I am glad you enjoyed your stay and everything about it. Sorry you found the restaurant service a bit slow, but we tend not to rush the guests through the five course meal. We like our guests to sit back and relax. :) We look forward to welcoming you back to the hall

We book this short break as we needed a complete break from pressure of work and we could not have chosen a better place. From arrival to departure the whole stay was excellent, the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful and the food in both restaurants was excellent. We used the spa facilities on all days, lovely to have it so empty, and again this could be faulted.our room was spotless and very comfortable. The whole hotel has been furnished most sympathetically with regard to the style of the house and you are made to feel at home. The fire in the library in the evening is a great way to end the evening with a coffee.if you stay here make sure you walk through the grounds, especially when the bluebells are out - magical !
We will defintely return here at some point in the future !

Room Tip: if yoy want to stay near to the spa then ask for rooms in the spa wing where you can just pop across...

We booked Tre Ysgawen Hall through Amazon local & had to cancel a couple of times due to work comittments but the staff were fantastic & very accomodating. The hotel itself is a lovely old building with fantastic gardens. The room was a good size with high ceilings and big windows it was very nice but a little tired. We ate in the a la carte restaurant which was a really nice ornate room and the food 1st class. Breakfast again was great and couldn;t fault it. All in all a great night away in a lovely hotel with really helpful & attentive staff.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

My wife and I planned this visit as part of our wedding anniversary on the Tuesday after Easter. Things didn't get off to a good start as there was no milk in the room to make a brew, so we had to call room service. Not a life threatening situation but this was compounded when we went to the bar and asked for some snacks, only to be told that they didn't have any. The real problems started with the evening meal. We booked the table in the "posh" restaurant for 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:20pm only to be told that we had to go to the bar where our order would be taken. We ordered a drink and gave our order to the waiter but we werent taken to our table until 8:20pm. Please note that there were only 7 diners there when we arrived. The starters were excellent but the main course didn't arrive until 9:05pm and it was cold. I sent it back, refusing any replacement.
Our trip was ruined by lack of attention to detail and the inability of the kitchen to provide a decent meals, especially when there were only 9 people to provide for.
We wont be going again.

Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear about your experience. The duty manager did explain to me about your experience and I have spoken to all relevant heads of departments for this experience never to hopefully happen again as these are not the usual feedback comments we receive and want to receive.

We stayed for two nights over the Easter bank holiday weekend and we had a fantastic time! The room was large and well equipped. The Prosecco and easter chocolates were a great touch.
The staff in every area of the hotel were great, very friendly, very helpful. We ate in the Clocktower restaurant and Noelle's, and both times the food and service were excellent.
We used the modern, well equipped spa and we had several spa treatments also, which were excellent. Our therapists were lovely.
We stayed in one of the bedrooms upstairs, and as we checked in we saw a lovely wedding in full swing, so we fully expected plenty of noise that night, from guests and the DJ, but I can honestly say, we did not hear a single thing, despite our room being fairly close to the Anglesey Suite which was where the evening party seemed to be held. I have never stayed in a hotel with a function on and not heard some music or guests, so this was a lovely surprise!
The hotel itself is beautiful, as are the grounds.
Overall we really couldn't fault anything! Would certainly come back and recommend to others.
