“Pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights, 30th August, on a KGB deal, and what excellent value it was. Our room was fairly small, but nice and clean with a lovely comfy double bed. Our 3-course meal on the Friday night was excellent, as too were our breakfasts. Wine was very good value - a nice change as hotels usually charge extortionate price. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Pleasant walk into Menai Bridge and lovely to walk back along the shoreline.
A lovely weekend, and we will certainly stay here again when visiting Anglesey

We had a couple of nights at this excellent hotel on a kgb deal. The hotel is clean comfortable and the food is 5 stars. Great for me as there are lots of gluten free options. Wine was very reasonable too.The breakfast was once more excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and service impeccable from all.

The room was comfortable and well furnished but it was let down by the bathroom which I believe will be refurbished soon. I love a shower and there was only an attachment with which I had fun when it spattered all over the bathroom!

We would defianely recommend the hotel both for a meal or to stay for a few days

Thank you very much for your review.

I have passed on your comments to the team and would like to say they are very much appreciated.
Our front of house & kitchen team have worked very hard over the last 18 months trying to perfect every aspect of our guests experience at the hotel and we feel a great pride when our guests leave with a smile.

Apologies that your room did not quite meet expectations, but as you mentioned, the bedrooms are another area that we are working very hard to improve.

We hope to welcome you at the hotel again in the near future.

My wife is originally from Llanfair PG and we come over on a regular basis to see family but haven't stayed at the Carreg Bran before.
We stayed on Friday 30/8/13 for two nights in a family room which is ideal because it is a double and a twin room with an adjoining door.Room very comfortable and clean but needs updating which we new in advance and we where fully aware that there are plans to do so.With ample furniture and storage for clothes and with comfortable beds in both rooms.Bar is excellent and really well furnished with attentive staff present at all times and nothing was too much trouble for the young lady behind the bar whose name escapes me at the moment but who had long dark hair in a plait.
On the Saturday night we booked a table in the restaurant for twenty people five of whom where very young children and we where very impressed not only with the food but also the service.
The children's meals arrived first allowing the parents to organise the children and themselves.
All the adults meals then arrived together and all where hot.The food was excellent and well presented.
Overall an excellent stay and would recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Anglesey.
We will certainly be staying there again in the future.
Well done to Ashley and the team thanks for making our family get together special.

Thank you for your review of the Hotel.

Firstly apologies the rooms did not quite meet expectations, but as you mentioned, they are an area we are working tirelessly to improve.

We were all very happy to read that your family enjoyed their evening meal. As well as working hard to deliver a great customer experience we also hope that we make the Carreg Bran welcoming for families and are very happy when a family get together of any size leaves with happy faces all round.

I am fairly confident I know which young lady you are referring to and I shall make sure she reads your kind words.

We hope to see you again soon.

For 12 years my wife and I have passed the Carreg Bran as we travelled around Anglesey and North Wales. We own a holiday home on the Island and often promised ourselves a visit but it was only recently that we decided to actually go and see if meals were in fact available to non Hotel guests. Pleasant surprise number one came as we approached the lady on reception to enquire. She could have just politely said yes but not content with that she produced a take-away menu and insisted on giving us a tour of the bar, lounge and restaurant whilst explaining that the nicest place to dine was in the area known as the "snug". At this point we decided to book a table for four two weeks hence, Sat 24th Aug. straight away Our friendly receptionist pointed out that there would also be a wedding reception that evening but they would be in a private dining room. We arrived early for drinks in the bar where the service continued the theme, efficient and friendly. After a short while we were taken through to the snug where throughout our meal we were looked after by a charming, attentive young team who all performed their allotted tasks efficiently and seemingly effortlessly. The surroundings of the snug are charming. Beautifully decorated with comfortable seats and roomy tables. Off course no revue would be complete without mention of the meal!. Let me say that if itis true that an army marches on its stomach then our little band would have marched to face the barbarians on that meal both from the point of view of the superb quality and the just right portion size and given that most of us eat with our eyes before we taste our food then we were treated to 3 courses of masterpieces on the plate (or platter). Quirky new twist on Welsh Rarebit, Chicken Meatballs and Mussels got us of to a fine start whilst we gloried in a main event of Beef Burger, Minty Lamb Burger, Lamb Shank and Cream Chicken breast. Now at this point we were all fairly full but given the delights we had already experienced we had to test the prowess of the kitchen brigade in the Dessert section. We were not dissapointed. Service top notch again. My Wife chose the chocolate fudge cake and not liking chocolate ice cream asked could she have vanilla instead-of course, no problem. I forget what my dessert was called but it was divine and I'll know it again when we return mind you the scone and butter pudding looked good as well. And just to prove that the Carreg Bran misses no tricks, home made shortbread with coffee brought a delightful evening to a close. At around £120 for the four of including pre dinner drinks and wine this is superb value as well as a great experience. About the handbook. There are many, many places to eat on Anglesey, some offering good service, some superb food, some lovely surroundings but very few if any offer it all like you do. I speak from a background of 30 plus years in the Hospitality business so I know of what I speak. Well done to Ashley and all his team - change nothing you're all doing a great job.

Thank you ever so much for your review.

We were all thrilled to read how much you enjoyed your meal at the Carreg Bran.

As you pointed out, our team is a young team, but surprisingly experienced & mature for their ages. They also put their heart & soul into the work they do and always strive to deliver the best customer experience they possibly can, so it is a pleasure for all of us to read that it is appreciated by our guests.

Our kitchen staff have also worked tirelessly over the last 18 months since joining the hotel to deliver what we hope is fantastic, locally sourced, home cooked food that is value for money, and we were again very please to read that you enjoyed every aspect of your meal.

Comments such as yours, and happy guests such as yourselves, genuinely make all the effort worthwhile and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Carreg Bran. Thank you.

We visited as a family of 16 incl children on a pleasant Saturday evening, the staff were very welcoming and polite throughout.
With all 16 of us ordering different food from the menu at the same time(all cooked to order) I was worried that the food would arrive late/cold or missed orders etc-how wrong was I! Every individual meal item arrived on time and hot, the 'taste' and quality was of an excellent standard.

We are local to Gwesty Carreg y Bran and will most certainly visit again

Thank you for your review of the hotel.

As well as working tirelessly to deliver a great customer experience,we also strive to provide a family friendly atmoshpere and were very pleased to read that you and your family enjoyed their meal.
The kitchen also work extremely hard behind the scenes to co-ordiante and execute the service of large group tables so it appears effortless and does not disrupt the guests evening, so I will pass on your comments to them.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
