The highlight has to be the Rex Whistler mural in the dining room, which must be the most glamorous dining room in Britain. It is amazing. It is the second time I have seen it, and I was blown away again by its scale, the intricacies, the humour, the style, the quality, the ambition of it. I really could have stayed there all day. The rest of the house is all lovely, quite evocative I thought of the 1930s, one could imagine weekend house parties and the conversation over dinner about the mural. The gardens are also good. The guides / volunteers here were all excellent, whether we got them all on a good day or maybe they were just full of enthusiasm on their second day back into the new season and thus still energised, I don't know, but they made for an excellent visit.
