“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We stayed at squirrel wood for one night and would have loved to stay there longer, The views were amazing and the room was very clean, spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The overall decoration to the b&b was very cosy and welcoming whilst being up to date, Jules and Pete were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the fact there was no wifi but with the views it has who needs the Internet, highly recommended!

We found this B and B by chance, it has only been open since January 2013 and is a gem. Pete and Julie are fantastic hosts, friendly without being intrusive and very helpful.
We stayed in the Stag suite, which consists of a hallway, single room, and twin beds which turn into a kingsize bed. A gorgeous bathroom with amazing powerful shower. The rooms are newly decorated and very stylish with gorgeous oak furniture and gorgeous canvas's on the wall. The bed was very comfortable, the room airy and roomy with a view out over the fields and the sea.
We stayed for 3 nights and sampled a different breakfast every day, salmon with scrambled eggs made with truffle oil was a hit with my partner and i had fantastic baked eggs in the oven one morning and yummy haloumi cheese with oven roasted vine tomatoes . the food was top notch, as was the fresh coffee, croissants, toast and juice, there was also cereal's galore to choose from and a full welsh breakfast.
We sat in the pod one evening with a bottle of wine, we brought with us, which was nicely cooled in the fridge, you can bring your own alcohol and they will let you chill it so its ready when you come back from dinner. Try the boathouse in red wharf bay, the fish is amazing and its only a 10 minute drive.
In the day time, there is a tea room here, we had a sample of the brownie's in our room which were yummy, all the cakes looked gorgeous. Julie is a fantastic cook, and we saw her making, soup and tartlets from scratch which smelt and looked amazing.
There isn't a pub or restaurant in walking distance but some good places within 10 minutes drive and gorgeous beaches and the coastal walking path are also 10 minutes drive.
We drove across the whole island and nothing was further than 1 hour away not even South Stack lighthouse so a good place to stay and visit the whole of Anglesey from.
We will definitely be coming back to stay again thanks for a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: Both rooms looked beautiful. The stag room doesn't have a wardrobe in the main bedroom so bring...

Just arrived home from two nights stay at Squirrel Wood on the isle of Anglesey and it was the perfect weekend away. Pete and Jules made us feel so welcome and the accommodation is lovely. We stayed in the Dray room and the bed was enormous! Peaceful decoration with fabulous use of wood, furry cushions and of course, squirrels. Breakfast was fantastic, a really beautiful menu to choose from and we could even pick the time we wanted to eat, which meant for a lovely lie in both days. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! We took Jules up on her recommendation for dinner on Saturday night and went to Dylan's in Menai Bridge, which was excellent, great food, amazing wine and beautiful views. We will certainly be back to stay at Squirrel Wood some time again soon, hopefully to see the potential new 'animal' additions to the family :-)

Just come back from a weekend at Squirrel Wood B&B in Anglesey. Had a great time. The accommodation is great, all new, very high quality, large bedrooms and smart bathrooms etc.
Jules and Pete were very welcoming and cooked us some great meals (thanks Jules).
Nice HOT hot tub (and a beer or two) at midnight with great views over the estuary.
Great walk on Sunday morning (take your wellies - it's very rural).
Throughly recommended - great boutique B&B.

Wonderful bed and breakfast cosy just home from home.

Stayed at squirrel wood two nights every aspect was to the highest standard, sitting at night in front of a wood burning fire in winter with a glass or two of wine so romantic.

Be wary the beds are so comfortable you just don’t want to get up in the morning to take in the local scenery!!

Breakfast – out of this world no complaints at all.

Pete and Julie are friendly and welcoming as hosts recommending a route to the local beach (to walk off breakfast).
A downside? Only stayed two nights already booked for a longer stay in the summer.

Spent a lovely couple of days here and appeared to be some of the first guests within this brand new B and B. The welcome from hosts Julie and Peter was genuinely warm, inviting and informative. Would describe the accommodation as very homely , furnished to a very high standard with some lovely finishing touches and an attention to detail which was above what we would normally expect. The cosy seating area next to the open fire was just what we needed after being out walking on the beach.

We stayed in the Drey room which was very comfortable with top quality bed linen and towels. We could see the sea from our window too which was a bonus.
The breakfast was beautiful with a good choice offered - we had blueberry pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup - mmmm and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs which were infused with truffle oil. Delicious !

Overall brilliant value for money in comparison to the norm.

We look forward to going back soon.

Many thanks for a great experience guys.
