“Friendly place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Lovely friendly place set in beautiful surroundings. Opposite Beaumaris Castle. Near the pier. Specialises in local seafood. Good value and good size portions. All cooked to order. Great attentive staff too. Bar man Ollie makes the best gin and tonic I've ever had. Thoroughly recommend it for a lovely experience. Popular with locals and visitors.

“Great food, superb staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We tried to book in the "proper" restaurant but the chef was ill (not food poisoning we presumed) and the jolly man on the phone cajoled us into going to the pub side for food as "it is not just pub grub". He was right too. Really good food, superb lamb cutlets and staff a lot of fun!

“So glad the White Lion is up and running again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Always used to stay and eat in the White lion when staying in Beaumaris. We were thrilled to find it was open for business again when we visited this weekend so decided to eat here on Saturday night and we were not disappointed. The food and service were absolutely brilliant and we can't wait to return. We will make sure we also stay here on our next visit.

“Open for business.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We had been unable to find out what had happened to the restaurant in the White Lion over the winter which was a shame as it had been good.
We called there last Sat. to find it has been taken over and I'm glad to say it is still good. It is now rebranded as Rhodri's at the White Lion
Between us we had pulled pork in a barbecue flavouring with some interesting leaves I'm still trying to identify, and a black pudding and chorizo starter.
We followed with a lamb two- ways dish being two best end chops and a small induividual cottage pie. Mine was a perl las and spinach linguine which worked really well. I really like the use of Welsh ingredients.
There was more of this when my husband had a platter of 5 Welsh cheeses. I went for the chocolate desert without knowing what it was. It was four little chocolate tasters- a small chocolate milkshake, a slice of chocolate roulade with chocolate ice- cream, a chocolate truffle and a slice of a dense chocolate pave. It was sensational!
The chef came to talk to us and told us his ideas for developing the menu.
We had good coffee and the staff were local and friendly.
Really glad I went and we shall be going again soon.
