“Very relaxing hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

We stayed for 2 nights at the Castle in order to celebrate our wedding anniversary and enjoyed our stay very much. The drive to Portmeirion is a pleasure and checking into our room (suite 8) revealed a lovley spacious suite with a seating area and living flame fire, a small kitchen area and a very modern bathroom with a large jacuzzi type bath. The bed was also very large and comfortable and was complemented with bathrobes and slippers.

We dined on the first night in the hotel restaurant down at the bottom of the village (complimentary shuttle bus service) and have to say we slighty prefered the food and ambiance at that location, thats not to say the dining experience at the castle was poor, its just we preferred the first venue.

Walking through the extensive grounds of Portmeirion is a pleasure and on a cold winters morning to return at lunch time and sit in front of an amazing roaring log fire within the castle is one of lifes little luxuries. The fireplace is 150 years old and is magnificent during the cold months, the fact that there is an adjacent bar serving local beers and cocktails is a reason enough to spend a couple of hours warming up.

A special mention to the staff, they are all very friendly and helpful and help to make the stay special. In conclusion if you like staying in oldy worldy castles but with all the mod cons discreetly included, in a stunning setting then pay this place a visit, i dont think you will be disappointed !!

“A UNIQUE LOCATION AND LOVELY ACCOMMODATION”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

We have just returned from a 2 night stay, we had accommodation booked in the Castle, although I think we could have stayed in Port Meirion Hotel also. The room (No 6) had under floor heating, gas fire, settee, table and chairs, large comfy bed, whirlpool bath, all to a very high standard, very modern. It was very clean, spacious but cosy and I would recommend it highly. We had a meal included in the price which we took in the castle bistro although we could also have taken it in the hotel. It was delicious and the staff throughout our stay couldn't have been more helpful. We would definitely go again!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I had been taking a driving holiday around England and Wales for a couple of weeks and this was by far the best value hotel we stayed in. Hotel had a deal on for a suite and £50 towards a meal in their restaurant for £135 a night. The food and the room were both fantastic. You could eat in the castle or the sister hotel down in Portmeiron a 15 min walk away. The walk is nice but they run a free shuttle between. Both are really nice hotels and would recommend having a pint and a glass of wine by a real log fire in one before heading to the other for a meal. Suite was really nice with the bathroom in one of the turrets! This place is a real gem and a fantastic deal!

“Fantastic Long weekend break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Just home from a fantastic 3 night stay, on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis. Lovely spacious well appointed room (castle 4), great food, Was happy to find that we could dine in either the Castle or down at the Hotel in the Viliage if we wanted. Good staff - faultless! - we'll be back!
