We wanted somewhere to relax following the inevitable stress of Christmas with distant family and had planned to stay three nights at George III on our long journey home. We were not disappointed. Our room, in the old stationmaster's house, was warm, quiet and very comfortable, and only a quick dash from the hotel. The location is superb with wonderful views over the Mawddach estuary and surrounding hills.
There have been some surprisingly poor reviews of this hotel but we had a really good time there and have no complaints whatsoever. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, and on one evening, they even took an interest in helping us to complete our crossword puzzle. Service overall was excellent and the menu is extensive with daily specials. We owe special thanks to Eric who just seems to be there whenever you need something, albeit at the bar, reception, dinner or breakfast. Well done Eric!
George III is a lovely hotel in a marvellous location and not to be missed. I imagine it will probably be extremely busy in Summer though.
