We went en fam here over the weekend. It was for my wifes birthday. Our table of 5 were the first to find the restaurant (speaking of which it is easy to miss as the sign for Steppes Farm cottages is more dominant, it's the same place!) that evening. The waiting staff were quick to take our drinks orders and settle us on the comfy sofa. The canapés were absolutely delicious and a welcome surprise. We were shown to our table. The restaurant is very intimate and the wood beams are beautiful and the lighting atmospheric. The amuse bouche was a beautiful wild mushroom veloute with very interesting texture of sea-salt running though it, and truffle oil. Our starters arrived in a timely fashion and were excellently prepared and presented and were not tiny portions which given our day was welcome. The duck salad was extremely good. Mot of us had lamb for the main because of the low food miles associated with the dish. It was cooked beautifully and presented very elegantly without too much fuss.... the puddings were to die for, and their hand-made chocolate truffles also looked very good as an alternative.
Our first experience of the Stonemill, being familiar with a few other local restaurants. It wont be our last visit.
