“Simply Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

A lovely winter walk up cader idris this year cleared the cobwebs!. Bit blustery but as always the views are some of the best to be had in Wales.

“Alpine appearance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

The Cader Idris are part of the Cambrian Mountain Range.
They dominate the scenery around Dolgellau in Mid Wales.
You can drive up the range, to get spectacular views of the estuary & Barmouth Town.
Our visit in March 2013 was in the middle of the "EASTER SNOW" and the scene was reminiscent of Alpine Valleys.
There is a lot of ground work going on, to make the roads DRIVER FRIENDLY by widening & straightening of the passes. This looks to be a long term infrastructure project.

“My perfect weekend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

An evening eating and drinking too much and enjoying the generous hosptiality of John and Ricky's fine B&B, The Old Rectory On The Lake after. Up early the next morning for the most sensational breakfast, then off to climb to the 2,932' summit of Cadair Idris ("The seat of Idris"), where it is rumoured, an overnight stay will render the walker either mad or a poet! A snack half way up at the beautiful tarn, Llyn Cau, will prepare you for the walk along the ridge to the very top.

From here, experience the sensational views down the valley to the sea and over Snowdonia and the Plynlimon range. There are several ways to walk up, depending on time available and your level of fitness, but whatever you do - don't miss it! Finish up back at the TOROTL for a well earned soak in the outdoor hot tub and a glass of something cheeky ;-)

“We think this is an amazing mountain - but we are biased as we live on the slopes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Since we came to Talyllyn to run a five star bed and breakfast on the slopes of Cadair Idris we have done our best to walk up it as often as we can - and in all sorts of weathers and seasons. Three times on Christmas Day! We think it is very special place and have been even more fortunate to photograph and film it from above thanks to trips in a friend's helicopter. We post some of the images from our aerial adventures!
